Actic Man April 8-12, 2009

Spoke with one of the guys plowing the lot. Says its taking much longer than normal. (More snow or just harder packed, I don't know) He reports lots of snow down there!

Yes, we went up Sunday, there is still alot of snow, was windblown and whiteout up high so we stuck to the gulleys of gun creek and four corners area, which still had some really nice snow. There are alot of areas with spring crust and suger snow underneath. I hate to say but there was even some ash on the snow, not too much, but we still rode all day anyway. We made a huge loop all the way down to wolverine mountain near paxson and back, there are some really nice areas still in the low areas, it has been snowing yesterday and today so it should freshen everything up and cover up the ash. The snow is way deeper than last year at this time, so that is the important thing.

One week and a wake up!

:beer;Sounds like the making of a great year!!!! Just saw an update to the AM web site saying they will have fuel for sale again!

Anyone know who to contact to rent a private porta john?

We saw some people had them last year, but I found out from the 'Arctic Man Police' that you can't just steal one from the row and drag it to your own camp!:o

So, am I the only one that still has to get everything ready for Arctic Man... here I was thinking "whoooohoooo, in a week I am outta here!!!" then it donned on me that I have yet to get the motor home ready, prepare a menu & buy food, buy beverages ;) , pack gear, get gas cans filled, bring oil, buy a spare belt, and then I thought... do I really need to bring my own Rent A Can this year??? LOL I have a list of "honey do's" for myself ~ that I am putting off until Sunday ~ ~ procastination is a beautiful thing ;)

You forgot the fire wood, grill and propane and a blender powered by a chainsaw (oh, maybe it was not your spot where they had awesome margaritas...):beer;

i just talked to a guy that left the a man site at 4:45 this morning so he could be back to work at a decent time. hes was there for 3 days running the dozer and helping howie out in any way . he said there was so much snow in the parking lot that the berms in between the rown are 15-18 feet tall and 50-60 feet wide, might not beable to park sled on top of them till it settles down . he also said he went riding and said it was the best snow he has ever seen at arctic man in his 10 years of going :)

i will be parking in 2 of the spots that global fuel had last year with a 32 foot toyhauler 5th wheele and blue and silver dodge pickup so stop buy for a beverage and lets go ride :beer;
