A buddy needs advice on what to buy

I have a buddy who came to the mountains in Valemount for the first time on his 97 670 136'', and wants a new sled. What's a good sled (Doo only) for a 275lb 6'3 guy? Is the XP too much for a new guy or is a 600 just going to end up replaced next year? He was looking at an 07 Summit 600 144. It's 480 dry and only about 2000.00 less.
He will be doing lots of trail riding too. Will his large size compensate for the longer track that is more work to turn?
Any input would be great as I bought too much sled for myself and had a difficult first year....but then spent huge $$$ changing it to a bigger track and narrower ski stance (CF1000 now a 151'')

I agree....he'll never notice anything regarding harder to turn if he's riding the mountains/trails in the mountains. No shorter than a 151 for his size, unless he's interested in being stuck often. The 6 hundy should be more hassle-free than the 800's and really enough power for anyone who's not going to do serious powder riding and/or climbing. It really depends on how aggressive he wants to get off-trail....cause they're all fast on the trail ;)

IMO 06 Summit 800 151 or 159
He'll bend the running boards fo sure, get a hold of Marcuso for some running board edges.

rode with a guy last weekend, in the bighorns, riding a new 800 summit with a 154 track. he had to be in the 6'2-6'4 range and was 250+. he went anywhere with that sled in really deep snow conditions. really impressed me. the sled takes some time to like the looks in my opinion, but performance wise it was truly impressive. he was a fairly new rider so that impressed me even more.

What's wrong with a 97 670? :), that's what I ride! But I will go with a 800 next with a 150+. I wouldn't go for a 600 w/ a 144. A new 600 probably won't have much more power than his 670. And a 144 no doubt will soon seem like his 136.

im 5'8" and 155 with no gear. i recently went from a 900 to a 600. i did this cause i like jumping and boondocking over hill climbing. if hes gonna climb, i would say 1000, but if just all aorund riding i dont think he could go wrong with a 800 154...
