To Shawn Parker and his guy's/wife at Cascade Rentals!
Showed up at Shawns place yesterday at 9 AM to pick up a rental for an out of town buddy. Not only did Shawn take the rental to the snowpark, he invited us to ride with him for the day!. We eagerly accepted his offer and off we went to the backcountry of a little known place called French Cabin. I have not yet figured out if Shawn acutually rides the way he rides on an everyday basis or if he intentionally tries to kill his rental clients on a daily basis! I must admit I consider myself a skilled rider of sorts but after riding a day with that man I can now see that I am merely a novice!. Shawn took us to a couple of his "secret" places that he likes to play at. The first (and by far the worst) is a little avy chute he likes to call the "PUCKER CHUTE"!!!. I dont recall if that was the exact name.....All I remember is it had the name PUCKER in it! I am sure you have all seen some pretty amazing avy chute climbs before, well I am here to tell you that going up one of these is probobly a pretty big rush. But going down is.....Im gonna guess a little bigger rush! I was the last guy in the group and didnt get to see everyone else go down. So in my normal fasion I grab a handfull of throttle and pop over the edge! HHHHHOOOOOLLLLLLYYYYY CCCCHHHHHIIIIITTTTTT!!!!!!! I didnt realize we were a mile up a vertical chute!!! The only obstacle being 1 lonley tree smack dab in the middle of the draw that pulled you right for it! After missing the tree and succesfully completeing the chute at mach 2, I proceeded to the group and high fives were awarded as everyone was ecstatic to be alive! After regaining my beaqrings (and releasing the seat foam from my a$$. Shawn proceeded to go up another steep hill. We followed! CARNAGE!! The rental sled came tumbling down and two others from our group were stuck on the hill. Myself luckily making it through the wreckage worked myself down the hill and waited the 45 minutes for everyone to get unstuck. The name of the hill is ID. It is steep and it is lllllooooonnnnnngggggggg!!!!While we waited Shawn and I talked at the bottom of the hill and he pointed out another HUGE chute with on track up it. He said that was a BIG MISTAKE from Sat but that once he commited he had to do it! All in all it was an outstanding day of riding with what I will call one of the best guides I have ridden with! At the end of the day no one was hurt, we all laughed and everyone had fun!
Thank you Shawn and the gang and lunch was one of the best!!
