885r BB tq monster in revy over the week

carb shims 07

Check out the parts section of skidoo.com it shows all the carb parts. I do not have an 07 but all the carbs have a shim.

hello fredw!
i finally installed my kit! I installed 500 mains and i put 19 grams pin weight, I do not have the 07 needles as i had to order them. Im in Fortmac at around 1200' and did several long pulls up and down the river wide open on a long pull was around 1050degrees and the mid when i held for awhile i could reach 1200, checked plugs to verify and plugs were light brown.
I dont ride my sled around here but did just for initial run to make sure everything was ok. I mostly ride in Valemount and think that maybe i could lean the mains out back to 480.
it would be nice to have some feed back as to what you recomend! I would like to have a good start on set up when i do hit the hills!
thanks!

Needles

xp880

We blew up 5 sleds using the 08 needles. All but 1 blew up in the mid range. I was one of the ones that blew up a mile from the truck in Revelstoke. All of the sleds that have been out since with the 07 needles (Clip in the center position) have held together. Be careful with the 08 needles in midrange. The sled is great from 0 to wide open, no problems. But if you spend any time in the midrange with those needles be careful, those needles are too lean for the bore we are running. The sleds are extremly strong with the 500's, You will not be disappointed with the power at all. Ride it like that for a day, check your plugs and jet down that night if you think there is room. I am ready to start jetting on the next trip but I can easily do it on the hill as I changed jackshfts and went with a team roller. Good Luck. Fred is in the States riding and said he would add to this thread when he gets back. I will e-mail you my phone number and if you have any questions you can call me for my experience with the sled.

well i am back tonight and what a ride, we went to hungry horse dam in whitefish and came across 3' of heavy powder at 6000':D:D:D, conditions were some of the best i have ever been in

there was a indy-600 and 7 other xp 154" with us, we had some great riders and broke into some wild areas

one of the other xps stood out and never got out of him what he had done to it, lol (so if you read this speak up)

my 803 ultimax belt put on another 170 miles and looks like the day i installed it, the other xps replaced a total of around 9 belts:mad::mad:

as for the 885 it ran like a champ, never missed a beat and everyone in the pac drove it, my mileage is beater than stock and from what others have said the torque and quick reeving seams to be the biggest difference than the stockers, all drivers that drove it said they felt a big improvement in power

second day i went to the 20 tooth sprocket and results felt like it spooled or came on quicker than before... so it stayed in(thanks brotha)... sled down right just jumps out of the hole... had to tighten the limiter strap to hole 3 to keep front end down more

as for my plugs i checked more than a few times with the 470- 480 mains and feel it is close but still could be drooped one or two more sises,as compared to the stockers.... electrode darker tan compared to lighter tan, think the next weekend i will try the 460- 460

did a few long two minute wot runs and never seen any rpm drop with this setup, really happy with it

now for the results this sled once again stood out, and when i say this i am talking an impressive amount over the others climbing, very forgiving in the deep powder over the others

ran clicker six one day and 3,4,5 the others days... did some major tuning on a few big hills and found the best rpm to run is the 7800 to 8000... never had any change on maximum speed while climbing.... but then go over 8000 and it drops off quick... go under 7800 and it drops slower... maximum speed i got climbing was 56mph:D:D... compared to the others xps making 45 to 48mph.... what a great tuning tool the new electronics have

overall very very happy with this setup and i am 99 percent done with tunning... if their is anything negative to say about it, it would be the rough trail ride it has with the limiter so sucked up... but that i can deal with

Dialing in....

Welcome back Fred. Sounds like you got the rocket dialed in. Did you notice any difference after 10 hrs... or is there a break in chip? I want to start jetting down this weekend in Revy but I'm not sure if things will change after 10 hrs..I only have 6 hrs. Were pulling out Thursday night if you're interested in joining. Glad you like the 20 tooth. Once again thanks for the informative post on your dialing in experience.

i have a feeling the break in chip is a pipe dream, no big noticable power gain, just rips as stong as it did the first day out of the box

yes i think jetting is close but still could be leaner, sounds like big john will have some y pipes come wend. and it should add close to 4 hp on the BB... might have to try that out:D:D for 200 bucks

not sure if i can make thursday, gotta keep the wife happy, but we will soon get together... maybe we should find a dyno and give it a try, would love to compare, got a buddy with a 860rkt that might come as well, if intrested give me a call and we can meet somewhere

well got a call from a buddy looking to do the same kit as mine... by any chance is their anyone selling theirs before i talk to ralph:D...

gotta apoligize, just ran to walmart and grabed a gram digital scale, found out my solid pins were not 21grams like the dealer said, they showed 18.9 grams and the arm and pin weight total 63.9grams

i had a older 07 mack 1000 arm and pinweight and it shows a total of 58.0 grams

Not for sale

Not me...lol. :):):)You thread has been a good sales tool for Ralph. I had a friend of mine talk to him on Friday last week and it looks a turnaround of about 3 weeks if you send your jugs up...

Yup thats how his engines work. Pull right from the bottom and no fade on top. Really don't notice it until you really start working it hard. Sure would be interesting to see it on a dyno. Ralph's stuff doesnt make big numbers though. However he does it, it works.

You using stock Timing?

few pictures of my weights, and yes still running stock timing... is their an easy way to advance a few degress:D

had the 885 out for a day trip in fernie, snow was ok... sled ran well:D

i tried the blue/blue spring, ran clickers on 3 and 4, and jetted down to 460 on both sides for the mains... checked plugs a few times and it looks like it is set perfect, nice light tan... will pull the head to take a look at the wash

803 xs ultimax ran another weekend(9 days and looks like new), but i am starting to run out of belt adjustment:mad:

we had a 700 dragon, an 03 skidoo and a stock xp with us, we came across a few good hills and the 885 stood out, i will try the blue, blue primary another weekend once the secondary is machined and i have joes helix installed... see if i can increase the mph... this ride it was hitting 54mph max climbing

got a buddy that gave me his boondocker nitrous setup to try.... has me thinking.... anyone ever try this out on a 800, will it work with the dpm??

Info on backwash

Fred

I will be interested in hearing about your backwash, I won't get out again until the end of the month and know that there is still room to jet down. Did you get a change in performance when you found the sweat spot on your jetting? I haven't noticed any changes jetting down, but maybe 480 is still too high to see a change from the initial 500's. Lots of people have used the boondocker on 800's. Put it on, you'll love it. When you put NOS on there will be an increase of about 200 RPM so try to clutch for +/- 7800-7900 so the NOS boost takes it to +/- 8000-8100.:):)

have a few pictures of the piston and heads, looking for some good op-ions on this since i have not delt much with wash

i checked the plugs two times threw out the day and compared to stock xps, from what i could see i thought they were close but the stockers were still lighter... i think i am happy with the plug color, but thought i would pull the head and take a boo

Your wash looks very good. It is just a little rich but why risk running it right on the edge with a big bore?

MTNSLD

had the 885r out this week in revy, we also picked up a xp 154 at the rental shop and the other guys had a newer 08 m1000 with a sledshed can, and one with a 07xrs

we had great conditions mixed with great new snow.... the new BB sure ran great... put in solid pins compared to stock hollow

we ran many hills and got a great feeling for the sleds.... the other three sleds were very comparable with the xrs slightly in fourth

the xp and snopro were neck in neck(these guys did not leave much on the table, competative as hell, lol) from my point i thought the m1000 had more track speed and would hit the hill faster, but the xp just hangs in their

as for the new 885r bb it was a a hole new league of sleds, i could let them take off first then start, then catch up, then let off, then come back on, and still go buy with ease... all three guys said it was no comparsion... gotta love it

now lets hope the reliabilty stays their:D

I can't wait to help clutch your sled.
It will be a joy for me.:face-icon-small-ton
