A little disappointed but optimistic.

Just because you are shorter doesn't necessarily mean you need shorter bars. I am 6 foot 1 and my wife is 5' 10" and standing beside her my arms hang down lower than hers. She can literally have an inch or two higher bars than me. Everybody automatically assumes that because you're shorter you need shorter bars.

I agree. I ordered the short bars and I love them. My girlfriend has the high bars on her pro and it feels odd to me when I get on them. I'm about 5'10" but I've got short legs and a long torso and arms. Very glad I changed from the tall bars to the short bars.

My feedback is that I'm absolutely in love with this sled....but maybe that's because I jumped from an edge chassis to this....don't have much seat time on a pro.

Buruant says if ur 6 feet and under u need low bars, so i took his advice and ordered short bars,. Now i realize he cannot make these claims due to everybodys body is different. When my bars were low i felt like i was riding a rmk from 1999, my back hurt and hands were aching. Trying to stand up , after the 1 inch rise i even forgot that i even modded the bars untill i remembered yesterday after my ride.

i see rasmusson always talking short bars to the doo guys too. as far as i am concerned.....i'd rather ride something comfortable that wont kill my back. if i get stuck a couple extra times, or make a couple mistakes because i dont have 1999 handlebar technology on my sled.....so be it. at least i feel up to riding the next day rather than sitting in a hotel with ice on my back.

i believe there's a happy medium to be found for 90% of the guys out there. the other guys are either really short, really tall, really good riders, or think their really good riders. :juggle:

I 100 % agree with you, i always see cat and doo guys with big risers, it must be a carryover idea from thier gorilla bars on the motorcycles to think its kewl to put big risers in, and usually are the worst riders, around here we call them posers. It was funny though, i added 3/4 of an inch riser and it was perfect for me, my son got mids and hes happy , but he rode my sled and he could notice the slight diff between the 2 bars and was enough to make it uncomfortable for him.

Maybe it's my "gorilla arms" as the girlfriend calls them, but the low bars fit me perfectly. I figured go with the low bars because it's way cheaper to raise them an inch than it is to lower them an inch.

I fall in to the "think they're really good riders" category lol. In all honesty, I love my axys but my first ride out on it let me know that I'm going to have to re learn to ride. Coming off the edge that I was completely confident on, this sled is a whole new ball game. A better game, yes, but a new ball game nonetheless.

For sure tberes a larning curve, you will have to retrain your body to use half the effort that your use to, untill than ur gonna be in lying in the snow ,embarrassed in front of all ur buddies lol
Enjoy

I found this too when i went from an edge to my '11 pro, do much less and get much more from the sled or else you are in the snow.

The track is far too stiff still and combined with the new "high transfer" suspension this thing trenches something terribly. My 2015 Pro was far out doing the 16 in this department. Every time I went into a sidehill the AXYS wanted to slip the rear down and go up the hill. I felt I was on a XM. When climbing the sled was out of control with skis in the air. It was much harder to sidehill slowly compared to my 15.

My exact first impressions also. The conditions were not the greatest but the little bit of sidehilling I was able to do unfortunately went a lot like this. Going to take some tweaking and getting used to. Other thing I noticed is with the higher chassis, everytime I put my foot down in the snow during a sidehill it felt like I was going to fall off since the sled was so high up. Other than that, it was super light, super easy to maneuver doing anything else. Carved donuts and laid over twice as easy as the pro.

I'm 6'2 and run the short bars. They work great!! Yes you can tell they are low and if I was in a meadow or just climbing I would not run them. But when I get in the technical areas they shine. My buddies have the med bars they also work great but the mistakes are exaggerated compared to the short bars. I would run the short bars. Cheaper and easier to raise them an inch compared to lowering them if you cannot get used to them. My 2cents
