858 Emissions Recall - This Can’t Be Good

I received this email from articcatinfo a couple days ago. I haven’t seen anything posted on this yet, anyone know anything? And more importantly who is volunteering to get this reflash and report back? I’m sure it will make the 858 rip.

So one update to clean up the midrange is going to be superceded by an emission recall? My goodness. I like the paragraph where they threaten us to get it done or future recalls won't be honored.

Already ran the 858 with the updated emissions recall and the sled still bogged all day. Doesn't seem to be a fuel issue. With revised cluthcing, the bog disappeared. Its a strange hesitation off the bottom when going to WOT.

My sled has over 5 hrs now. It rips. Speedwerx cluthing, refresh don. Zero issues in good deep pow yesterday and today in Revy.

Glad to hear this, thanks for the update. When I read that a new calibration was required due to not meeting emissions I jumped right to the assumption that the calibration would be a step a backwards performance wise. Nice to hear the calibration is a step in the right direction.

Did you run with the stock clutching before installing the Speedwerx setup?

I know nothing about helix angles or why you would want straight compound. I know the difference on what they are but not when you would want a straight compared to compound. What does that do? And guessing you have to change springs too? Was it a custom helix you ordered or something someone had on the shelf.

I get helix's made with Venom. Im still testing, but once its finalized a kit will be for sale to the public.

A straight helix is when the angle is the same on the entire duration of the helix. So, for the 858, its a straight 48.

I tested a 46-42.36 with a softer secondary spring to see how it would react. This what is referred to as a muilt-angle helix. You start at a 46 and over the .36 of the helix duration is shifts to the 42 and holds that 42 for the remainder of the helix.

Cool. Look forward to hearing about how it turns out if the speedwerx I have doesn’t pan out. I just remember on my last sled I ended up buying multiple weights and wanted something adjustable since I had more $ in multiple cat weights than buying adjustable and figured id just buy the whole kit for not much more.

What effect does a multi angle helix have on a mountain sled? When would you want straight over multi angle? Is straight just easier to tune? Im trying to learn without spending 10k in parts and years of experience so I appreciate you sharing yours lol
