Ohhhh, I love cutout engine displays! The TPS thing makes a lot of sense, sounds like you just drop it in and run through a setup procedure. A lot simpler and more accurate. Most automotive systems are like that these days: the ECU learns the sensor. On the injectors, it looks similar to port FI on a 4-stroke where the stream is designed to hit the intake valve, which gives you a cooling effect and helps atomize the fuel. I'm sure there's also a lot of tuning involving the placement and timing of the injector to minimize the amount of fuel that finds it's way into the exhaust. Definitely a case where there's a lot more than meets the eye.

Nothing here... I think that is going to be a hard piece of info to harvest without opening an engine up.

HMM.

I don't want to sound like the negative one as there are a lot of things I like but I was really hoping for a different fuel injector location IE: Direct Injection.

I am fine with the single ring piston. I have my suspicions on why they went this way.

I'd sure like to know rod length and center to center distance between the rods.

I am a little concerned about the clutch. Do we know if they did anything to the snout? They thickened up the crank; very good was needed. But what did they do with the clutch snout going from a 32mm to a 34mm? If they just recut the current P-85, then I foresee a repeat of the cracked clutches.

I really like the speed improvement of the ECU. I really hope they cleaned up the electrical and wiring.

After perusing those beautiful pics, I'd say Polaris sells sexy better than Hefner.

I want to know how this new mill stacks up in real world comparisons. If it's a true 173 HP...say hello to the new, undisputed Rocky Mountain King! ?

9% more HP than the 800 puts it safely in the upper 160s.

Eric Woog "VOHK" talks about the new 850 here, good info. He said it will be modification friendly,I bet its going to be a monster when boosted.

If it is 'class leading power' ... what is the benchmark made on the dynos for STOCK 850-Rotax... the only other in the class??

.

Glad to see this. The 4 year warranty alone will sell a ton of sleds!

Dynotech dyno rd a 2018 ski doo 850 with 1,000 miles at 166 hp
They added 2 degrees of timing and got 168 hp. So I would think Polaris should be right in that area.

The expansion chamber on that pipe is FAT.
Chris Brown, Phatty and I were all like...whaaaaat? HAHA
