Sounds like the Norway demos had some bad mapping and clutching for their elevation/conditions. All the demos up in Canada have been getting great reviews, super excited for next season will be my first Polaris.

Ya the 3 in our ride ran totally fine. They were still "working on the maps" and apparently all 3 sleds had different maps, but I couldn't find anything quirky with the running. Sleds had 900kms on them...so they had been ridden a bit for sure

Which is after 2300 miles. Stock power was 154.1
this chart puts an 800 ho at 158-160 hp at 8250 rpm (correct me if im wrong) so that puts an 850 at 172-174 hp with a 9% increase in hp over the 800 ho right? cause someone earlier said "based off the the graph it would put the 850 at 168 hp safe to say"
but my question is... is the 850 a 9% increase in hp?... or from what i thought i saw somewhere (i could be mistaken) ... is it a 9% increase in power to weight ratio since they gained 7#? so if that is true( and i emphasize IS THAT TRUE because i am not certain but i thought read it somewhere and this is why im asking) what is the hp?
im am no math major!!! HA!!

I've read 9% more power...not power to weight.
Honestly every thread, Facebook post, Instagram post, etc has the same HP question. No one can/is going to nail down a number....not gonna happen. Heck, there is still disagreement on the power of all current 800's and Doo's 850 and all that stuff has been around for the few years.
It's a nice increase...no danger of NOT noticing it IMO (have ridden 1). If you are expecting it to feel like a turbo, you will be disappointed. If you are expecting a nice linear increase at all RPM's over the current motor, you will be in love. It goes much better than the current 800 with a full SLP exhaust...that much I can say.

I wonder what the 800 ho was supposed to be? If it is 9% of 160 that is a bunch. If it was 160 then the new 850 will be a monster at nearly the same weight, that would put it in the 174 to 175 hp range with a lot wider power range. I have not ridden the 850 but have a friend that just checked a 155 2.6 with piggy back shocks, cannot wait to ride it. This season is not even over yet and I am looking forward to next season already.

9% is still 9%. I was just trying to show how that number is a bit skewed as you go up in elevation.
I don't doubt' people will notice...and if you really read between the lines I was suggesting we'd all be a lot better off if we could limit the damn drivetrain loss in a sled!

I’ve dyno’d at least 6 different 800 axys sleds at dtr. The average one would be around 152 hp at dtr . The one in the graph was 154 hp. Not that it matters ?
I hope the 850 is as much as the 840 we dyno’d at dtr. (Same bore and stroke as new patriot 850) We’ll see soon ?

good luck getting a production engine to run as hard as spring "demo" sleds..invariably ignition timing and fuel delivery are detuned in the interest of engine longevity and warranty claims... just my observation of different brands promotion "demos"...

That's what I was getting at. Put a pipe on the current 800 (probably 5hp or even a bit more) and you are kinda humming/hawing on if it feels much stronger....you're pretty sure it does? But not sure how much. The 850 isn't like that.
So here at Sea level BMP will for sure push their 200HP kits by mid summer ...
SSI will be quick to add 10 more
I keep seeing everyone planning their purchase .. Isn't it to late to order ??
Polaris promised NO Ghost Snowcheck ??!! Like the Needle Shocks prob!

FWIW, I talked with a dealer also claimed that they weren't allow to order any snowcheck sleds to sell on the floor this fall, when they had been allowed to do so in the past. Still not sure how this works in practice if a "buyer backs out"
Yes, that's what we have been saying.
If you don't snowcheck, you won't get a new 850.
BTW, that ends at closing time TONIGHT!!!!

Exactly, I was told by our local dealer that if they do a ghost snowcheck, they run the risk of a pretty hefty fine from Polaris.
