800 p-tek vs 800R gas milage, SKI DOO

I have not tried the 800R at all. I was wondering what you guys have noticed for gas milage over the two engines, in stock form and even modified. Want to buy a new sled and gas milage is a bit of a consideration over buy new or used.

Thanks.

The R should use less fuel unless you are on the throttle alot, it takes more fuel to make more power....but for the power they make they are a miser, especially just cruising.

i have an 07 rev and was under the impression the ptek and the r was the same motor?
My hood has both definitions on it,so what is it.

In 06 they made the 800 H.O. a powertek (great motor). In 07 they made a new 800 mono block called it an 800R powertek and have had problems every since. Two differen't engines

you would think if they had such prob's with this 800r ptek motor they would discontinue it's existence..hmmm.This is the same motor they still use isn't it?

I've got 2100 hard miles on mine(800r ptek 07) without a hint of prob's,albeit a bad spark plug cap, thats it so far, knock on wood,oh **** it's hard to find real wood now a days....only :clock: will tell.

From what I understood the 800 R motor is a Mono block with a cooled crank case.
The 800 P-tek is the old 800 H.O. used on the 800 race mods.

Thank you for the replies guy. Makes sense the the 800 R would use less fuel unless you used th thottle a lot.

RACETIME

The 800HO Ptek is just a spiced up 800HO (knock sensor/erave/tps ect) same old engine with a few bells and whistles.

The 800R Ptek is a completely new engine, the reason they kept Ptek with the 800R is because its an acronym (T=TPS E=Erave K=knock sensor) all of which the 800r has! Except its on a completely new engine w/ water cooled crankcase, monoblock, 3d erave ect.

Anyways, on topic.

I found my 800HO Ptek got awesome milage (15+) trail riding (not granny riding but not bagging on it) and it really didnt get a whole lot worse when i was bagging on it.

Cant say much for the 800R, just picked up my new summit last week and their isnt any snow yet!

So you are saying you get 150 miles to a tank?
That seems like alot.
I am lucky to get 60 or 70 miles to a tank in deep snow. So that is only like 6 or 7 miles to the gallon.

Have owned 06 and 07 summit 800s and the 07 with the 800R used much less fuel in the POW than the 800 H.O. for 06.
