800 H.O vs. 800R?

I'm looking to buy a used rev. How much better is the 800R in the '07 and newer? Is it worth the extra money? How much more power does the "R" have? Also, what did ski doo do to get more power out of the 800R? Any input helps. Thanks.

I have one of those '07 800R's and i am happy with the performance of it.... but it certainly wasn't without its problems. I have gone thru 2 top ends, 1 crank and 1 primary clutch. I have 3000 miles on it now. I have never blown a belt on it, but i did replace the belt at 2000 miles for the heck of it. I think this sled is rated at about 155 hp, and with the proper clutching it does perform well. I had all the updates done on the clutch, but i also did some mods on it... I put in a heaver spring, and lighter weights, I also geared it down some. I run it in the number 3 position and it runs steady at 8350 RPMs. I also got rid of the stock mufler and put on a can.... sounds cool, and we all know that that is important!!! lol!!!

Good luck with that..... :face-icon-small-coo

seems like a lot of problems with the 07's. 05 and 06 HO in my experience are more dependable

Updated motor, new clutch(entirely new) and swap tracks for a CE. Best REV base going right there. I had a XRS and would definately buy another if I could find a decent one.

After the initial 3 changes, drop your gearing, play with some clutching and customize however you like. I really liked my 159 for just about everything.....and got it airborne a lot more often than I do the 163 XP.
