440 snopro project

Is a single pipe better for a turbo setup? or would twin pipes or triple pipes on a triple make more power with a turbo?

Hey

I cant really answer your question because I'm pretty new at turbo charging and never played with more then one pipe. I can tell you that I'm building a twin piped renegade 1000 turbo now, and carbed no sdi for me. I do believe it should make more power but not 100 percent sure.

I'm sure Gus Bohne could answer this question.

we gained over 90 hp going from the cpi single to crankshop twins on the rt turbo at dynotech , same boost.

god loves those who think OUTSIDE the box..

uncle donny installed the msd on the big 4 holer..now he can have fun.

WoW!!! 90 more hp over a single, now that gave me goose bumps.

I Had a part cnc'd for the 1000 once it's completed I'll shoot you a pic to see if Steve might want one. Should be done by tuesday.

This is an awesome build! Hey Gus have any pictures of the 1000 twin piped turbo?

their are some on you tube, search turbo rt test, or steve bueti or driveline.

some poor schmuck on a cat parked behind him in one vid and wouldnt move sled,..... lmao.. you see it get buried in ice chips when stevie launchs.

there are 3 or 4 runs of 5.0 et at low boost and the last run of 4.8 et @ just 16 psi after getting a better tune under the skid, still spun to much..

we hit 400 hp wth twins at just 17 psi.

Are the turbo twin or triple pipes any different in shape or volume than the N/A performance pipes?

Nope

Just watch for leaks and hook turbine as close as possible to the taper of the pipe with a short stinger.
The stinger diameter might need some attention depending on exhaust A/R being used. You need to keep pipe pressure over boost pressure at around 3 to 5 lbs @ w,o , if you go to much you WILL!! cook pistons.

I've read that you need a bigger turbo as well, which makes sense. Any way of calculating size?

Can't really help you there on sizing I know a few things but not enough to size a turbo.
Maybe gus can answer this question.

I do know what size is going on my new build, 07 machzgade 1000 carbed with a gt3582.

Yeah, I've heard that it's pretty tough to calculate the right size of turbine housing, I'll have to just try one when the time comes. The 1000 looks like a cool project, looking forward to seeing the build thread (?) What are you planning on running for pipe(s) on that one?

As I build one i'm going to double up on everything I fab up exept for the pipe. I will be turbocharging the black rt in the pic with a single pipe and twin crankshop pipes on the white rt, with both being carbed conversions. I have a little business to take care of in two two classes at the radars.

Trail open 1000 power adder & Prostock 1000.

And again Thanks gus for the help.

Awesome, sounds really interesting. Can't wait to hear about how they preform. Really cool that Gus share's info and helps people out with builds, Thanks Gus! keep it up.

be cool guys. Mike my e mail has been down since march 12th.
I have not got a pic of whatever it was you wanted me to see.

send it to my phone.

I most likely will not answer canada calls as verizon is now charging the same 10 bux for incoming calls ! thiefs..

as long as the text is not on the bill we are good.. wife will let me know on next bill if she hits me its all done !! no more canada communications.

Makes it tough on Don and Curtis too , we like to bounce ideas off each other and now that they have the msd on the big girl its full forward for Tommy to make the 200 mph mark go bye bye...imagine, 173 mph with an 8 inch split in 1 pipe and just 16 psi boost on the 2nd pass this yr.

we need our own chat board with no advertisers or salesman looking for credit card numbers !!!

member**** my butt

turbine size is also straight forward. no magic. just common sense. the rt likes a .8 ar range. but we like to test so we will try some others in spring at dtr
text me the combo
