4 Stroke Haters

I have already stated my opinion of the 4-stroke snowmobile over on the Deep Powder section, and like I said, for climbing, it's tough to beat a boosted 4-stroke. I will also say that I will ride a 2-stroke until they quit making them, and probably a few years after that. Give me a direct-injected 800 2-stroke, a 150"-154" track, and a true sub 420lb dry weight and I'll be in heaven. You 4-sroke guys push a button and ride forever without a problem, I'll pull a rope and put 3000-4000 miles on my 2-stroke without a problem and then sell it.

I have been impressed with how far 4-strokes have come in the last couple years though. I also see nothing wrong with continuing to develop and advance the 4-strokes because they will have their place in the world. I also love watching guys on movie take there sleds to places I would never dream of going, it's incredible. I just don't think the 4-strokes are as incredible as some people seem to think they are. They have got a way to go to be that good...

It's all about what works for me, where I ride and the snow I ride in. Got nothin' against 4 strokes, three strokes, or one strokes. Stock, they just don't work here in powderland, If you think they do and want one, cool !!

Only thing holding most back is they dont want to shell out 25 grand for a new sled and turbo and they dont usually buy used even though there is some sweet buys.Personally I tell them to get one and forget what the wife will say.

I guess it depends on what you consider "stock". My Nytro isn't boosted but it isn't exactly stock either. I've done a track swap and put in a better rear suspension and some other weight loss stuff (on the way to -80lbs I hope). I have been really happy. It does pretty darn well in the powder since the mods. I will admit that without boost, it will never set the highmark, but that's ok with me. I have never been a hardcore hillclimber anyway even when I ride a two-stroke. Just not my cup of tea. The four-stroke engine is getting better all the time as is chassis technology. It is going to be really exciting in the next few years to see where this goes. I do think Yammy should put some thought into better stock parts (i.e. suspensions) so they can compete better right out of the box. The rear skid really held my Nytro back IMO. Weight loss is going to have to be a huge factor for them also. I'm not bashing two-strokes. I still own a couple. Just my two-cents

well, the industry is making progress...most used to say they were only good for point and shoot...

those who ride them (myself included) do more boondocking and Deep Pow carving/playing than climbing...

My T-Nytro is dramatically easier to carve than my Rev 800, is dramatically better at boondocking, and at the end of the day, I am not nearly as tired as I was with my Rev. Summit...and My summit was very well dialed with all the gadgets adn go fast stuff and make it ride better stuff...

Simple fact is, the opinions most are sharing have more to do with ignorance than facts...I too mocked the Nytro's till I rode one...now I have one, and it is by FAR a better sled (all aspects of riding) than my Rev was...

I will say that I am impressed with the new 09 M8's though, nice light feelign in the front end...just not enough poop in em

dont let that myth fool you either...

I am into mine for roughly $16k....that includes purchase price (end of season last year) (Under $8k), timbersled front and back ($2,300), and a turbo from Nw Turboworks ($4,500), plus some other stuff...

" high mark " is a two stroke term. Four stroke turbos make it over the top so essentially there is no " high mark " to be made. I have yet to see a 2 stroke turbo out perform a four stroke, and I deal with a lot of turbo sleds. If your into building a time bomb, go right ahead. besides, aren't you sick of breathing in all that smoke ? just plain gives me a headache.

I love my Rev, and if that honestly is the case, I must have needed more time on the TNytro than I had. It took me about 5 min to feel comfortable on Hilly's M1000, where after 5 min on Hangtime's TNytro I was more afraid than ever to go half way down the hill and turn it around in a group of trees, but once I got it pointed up the hill, well, there's nothing like trying to ride a wheelie the entire way up.......

I will say that I was impressed with how Hangtime was able to ride that sled, I guess he went through the trees as well as anyone, I'll just have to get used to that chassis and reserve final judgment until then..

Here is another point that nobody has brought up yet. Let me start by saying that I have been riding 4 strokes since 2003. I am currently 4 strokeless and have been riding an M7 and a 2 stroke Skidoo with my girlfriend. 2 strokes stink (literally) and the smell stays in your clothing. Also, they are 100% oil loss, which means that every drop that goes in the oil tank goes out the exhaust pipe. Really looking forward to riding my new 4 stroke again.

well out here on the east coast its alittle different. 2 strokes seem to be the common sled, not to many boosted 2's or 4's because we don't have the mountains to climb. me personally i like the 2 strokes, they just are so much lighter for the trails and the powder that we get here. i also ride a 121" in the deeper stuff so getting stuck tends to happen.

I can settle this arguement right now. No pointing out the good bad or ugly from any sled. JUST NOTE.

11of those listings are turbo sleds for sale. I can only say that there must be some reason guys are selling these sleds. I will let the rest of you fight that out.:beer;:beer;:beer;

Doesnt prove anything go to the cat section 3 turbos for sale I think a lot of the ones ya see are just 2 year sleds same as ya see in ski doo and polaris sections. Moving on to new builds is all or maybe money is tight who knows.
You really have to spend some time on the 4 stokes to get to know them and learn how to ride again. the ones who said they tried it and was the worst sled they have been on cant pass judgement.

Another interesting data point to yours...

Skidoo section...100% of them are skidoos for sale...
Arctic Cat Section...100% of them are for sale...
Polaris Section...100% of them are for sale...

Not sure your point adds any value other than stating some sleds that people modded are for sale...Unless your jumping to an assumption that those people are unhappy...which if you read some of them, they are stating that they are either going bigger, or doing a different thing...

generally, they are like all the other newish sleds for sale, people doing a build each or everyother year...

By the sounds of it you have probably never personally "experienced" a well setup 4 stroke turbo sled. If you had you would be singing a different tune. I have been on both sides of the fence and am currently on the 2 stroke side, but not for long.

I am not making up these statistics here just observing the used market. When the used market shows an abundance of one type of thing for sale it generally doesnt mean its the hottest thing on market. I wont argue good and bad just showing peeps are dumping them and dumping them at huge loss's unrefutable.

I did read them, no jumping to asuumption here, as a matter of fact I pulled these two quotes from the FIRST page of the turbo's for sale. I didnt spend to much time reading past these comments....

I just bought this sled and put about 2k in making it run right, I am wanting to go back to a lighter chassis that still puts out POWER!! So this sled is for sell or trade!!! and i am extrememly

But like a said above i am very motivated to get into a new sled preferably a 2 stroker,

LET'S MAKE A DEAL SO CALL ME AND LETS WORK SOMETHING OUT.

08 MTX Nytro with reverse, Works excellent. Still like my lighter Cats better though and have too many sleds.

Ageed... I have rode both and know the arm pulling insane power and like you stated if you are going to make the switch now is the time to do it. DEALS everywhere on some nice iron IMO. I thought of switching myself but due to already riding a heavy 900 POO i dont want to go any heavier and heavier it would be.
BTW, what is Chris Burandt and Krazy canadian riding this year?:beer;:beer;:D
