4 Stroke Haters

You ever notice how many guys are constantly justifying (loudly) why they don't, won't, can't, would never, don't need, can't understand, the fellas that choose 4 strokes and boost......then they are the same guys lining up to buy the videos of the big chute climbs and mountain segments displaying the benefits that boost affords us.
Not many guys that can't wait to buy and watch that new release starring that new lightweight 150 HP sled. Some cool footage but after you've watched a sled catch huge air (a definite talent) for about the 100 th time, it gets a bit tired. I don't think many get tired of the sound of that boosted 4 stroke or watching the terrain they can conquer. Yeah I know.......sidehillin and tree ridin is a learned skill, but come on, its a hoot to participate in, but a bit boring to watch for an hour, thats all I'm saying.

PS. and the fact that if these guys mess up or the machine fails, the consequences are just a bit more severe than some guy blowing a belt or catching a ski surfing thru the trees. The thrill don't seem the same, watchin or ridin.

My point... stop hatin , open your mind, embrace change.

WOAH!!! slick, you feelin alright??:face-icon-small-con

just kidding man, i totally get the point, i love my 2 stroke to death, but if i had the coin i would be saddled up on a boosted 4stroke. they are freakin sweet.... its an envy thing. dudes dont like other dudes have all that cool crap and it being better.

two stroke is good enough for me. for 4 stroke is alittle to much weight and little to big engine in that sled

but hatch... i think we can admit, it would be nice to be able to just hit a button, boom, started, and the power vs reliablity is still better, im boosting a 2stroke, i know there cool, but still, the yammis are darn cool in there own relm!!

News Flash!!!

2 stroke TM sleds are the new Yami turbo...yes it is

Time will tell...report back after you have 2000 + miles with NO ISSUES, then report again after ANOTHER 2000 miles with NO ISSUES.

Not saying you wont, just saying the jury is still out, since everybody and his brother has a turbo 2 stroke kit these days.

Seems as of late (the new releases) that the 2 stroke turbo's are getting the high mark:eek:

could it be a weight factor;):p

wow..change your undies cause i think your full of bs...no way your this politically correct :eek:

Ride whatever makes you happy.
Be happy for the guy who rides something else.
Pity the poor bastards who don't, or worse, can't ride at all.

yami better get on the ball, the 4 stroke novelty is wearing off and with the turbo 2 stroke now becoming common their market share must be shrinking by the minute. WEIGHT TO POWER RATIO, something yami has ignored since the rx1ton is going to be there downfall. oh yeah when you loose that 4 stroke motor you'd better have some serious coin to fix it...

"the 4 stroke novelty is wearing off"

Then why are the other mfg developing new 4 stroke technology?
Heck I'll be the first to admit a 4 stroke, or boosted one for that matter is not for everyone. But it is for me.:p

Heck I ride with all of them....some of my friends have them and some don't. I don't care what you ride, just ride. And join your local local club or association to keep riding areas open in numbers. And take an accredited avy training course if you ride anywhere with mountainous terrain.

Little fyi.....north of the 49th parallel......Yamaha is ahead of 2 of the other brands in retail sales for 2008 model year.;) 2009 numbers are not in yet.
Have a super day:beer;

I always said I'd never have one, now i'll propably never go back

And as far as 2 vs 4stroke turbos. put two side by side and there isn't really a competition. We ride with a gew and the 2's run good but nothing like the 4's

Well said. I'm not one to turbo anything. Just not really my riding style. So that isn't a factor for me. I finally rode a Nytro MTX last weekend though. It was the most impressive sled I've ridden in years. Would I prefer it over my D8? No, but I wouldn't mind having one in the stable.
I've been waiting for them to get the 4 strokes a little lighter and more nimble. I think they are certainly on the right track.

Maybe its just me but when I watched 509 Evolution the 2 stroke turbos weren't going up anything near as fast as the 4 strokes. I like em all but the only guy I know with a 2 stroke turbo around here is on his 3rd engine already, cant seem to get it dialed in I guess. Paying 20K only to have it sit in the shop when you thought it would be killin everything out there has to be disappointing.

I do not ride a turbo 2 or 4 but i have ridden quite a few of them and i have yet to see one of these 2 stroke turboes run with out messing with them on a fairly regular basis. And for a fact they have all had lag in them. That said the 4 strokes are not as nimble and defiantly have there application . To me they are still heavy feeling even with all the light weight mods. the weight is in the motor all on the front. Now if they could lighten up that motor it might be a different story. 4stroke durability nope i have seen plenty with lots of issues so the 4 stroke dependability thing is not a selling point. And where is it in the rules that we have to like what some one else likes to ride or dislike it for that matter. Everthing has issues and you can tell by this thread that humans do as well. Just ride what you like or can and be happy.
