The (3") PowerClaw is only 2 3/4"- 2 13/16" at best if measured like it should be (from the top of the belt). And if that is all Cat has going for them I'll pass.
It might only be like 13 I can't remember now
new PowderMax Light FlexEdge track 3.5 pitch track 16 inches wide with three-inch tall paddles.
WOW! Early season riding... and ripping over stumps & rocks???
The Lester boys grew up to be their Dad and Uncle. Everything that has been said about them is spot on. Oh they can ride, but not often do they ride out west. I have not liked them since the 2002 CSRA Finale but that is another story. 2002 was a long time ago. LOL
They missed the target on a couple key points but ultimately they got their point across, and that is what the video was meant to do.
If the objective was to mislead the uneducated, they did that great.
They have false information and lead ppl to believe the others have issues but the axys doesn't.
They either shouldn't have brought up these points, XM front end being weak, cat spindles, cat low end power.
Without pointing out the axys weak points, everyone knows the arms are weak. That should have mean included! At the very least.
The cat spindle thing, it's not the issue, shouldn't even be included.
Cat low end, my dealer is selling them clutched and they have more grunt and pull than most of the axys I rode, but I set up his kit and I also wouldn't rule out the axys until I clichéd one. So I don't compare them if someone ask s me. I simply say cats clutching from the factory is not Mountain clutching and there is way more to be had with proper setup. Not a single word about the axys, I think they are both in great standing and the results I saw are from the track not the power.
Plan and simple misleading
maybe they should have finished with...no winner.all 3 are awesome.
I think what you're missing is, and it was pointed out previously, is that they are testing BOX STOCK sleds, not sleds that have been massaged. So, if, by your own admission, Cats' clutching as they come from factory not completely dialled in, THAT is what they are testing, and reporting on. As to the Cat spindles, only ridden a '12, so whether there was a design flaw or not, I can't say. But clearly CAT thought there was a better design, as they revamped it?
And to the Axys, yes, some folks have had some A-arm troubles, others have not. I hit two pretty solid trees with mine, and feared the worst. Scraped the snow away and not even the tiniest of scuffs. Perhaps they had an issue firsthand with a Doo test sled, and felt it should be reported, and zero issues with any A-arms on their Poo testers? Who's to say? If I was a moto journalist, I wouldn't report heresy/scuttlebutt/interweb rumours, only what I had seen firsthand. And it's quite possible that is what happened here, not some vendetta against other manufacturers because their bribe cheques didn't clear the bank lol.
