probably better off building a snow cave. What ever you do, bring a lot of sleeping pads for insulation if you are going to be on the snow. A good couple of inches will go a long way to making you comfortable. Oh, the closed cell type foam, not the ones that hold water, otherwise it will be like sleeping on a sponge.

Just find a safe spot for your keys.

tent'n it...

If you pitch a tent you can always put it on top of your trailer or the back of your truck and then throw a good tarp over it... Which woud be warmer then pitching it in the snow...

my buddies bailing out on me this weekend... looks like i get to sleep in my truck now . i dont know the area to well but it sounds like this would be a good weekend to learn it with everyone up there. i dont have a beacon but i should be okay right?( like i say i have no clue about baker ) normally ride stampede and gallagher

apologize

your right, if you are going up to baker to sleep in your truck you do not need a beacon. If you plan on riding your snowmobile you better look at the avalanche report.

What's your life worth???????

Dragonrider08........................do yourself a favor and stop off at the local sledshop and get a beacon. Plenty of avy's happen up at Baker. A guy I used to work with 8 years ago in the spring died up on BigHouse due to a avy. I was supposed to have been there that day but was not. I'm kind of glad I did not have to go through the panic..................He did not have a beacon. He was not found till the next day by rescue dogs.

P.P.

Hey Dragon man,
Do yourself and your riding buddies a favor and get your self a beacon and learn to use it. Don't stop with the beacon though, get a shovel and probe as well and learn to use them. This weekend would be a great time to purchase one. Bring it up on the hill (or in the parking lot would be better) and I know there will be several members of the Glacier Cruisers that can assist you with how to use it.
I'm bringing by 14 year old boy up this weekend and I would like to know that every single Tom, Dick or Harry has a beacon and knows how to use it if he were to get caught. I guarantee you he will be there using his beacon to find you if you get caught.
Darndest thing, we took a avy class this winter at Baker and the two youngest peeps there (both 14) found the beacons very quickly (likely the quickest) out of a group of about 16-18 adults.
I'll be there camping in a red Dodge w/5th wheel and a Grey 06 Dodge with deck and 2 place trailer. Look us up and we would love to show you the basics of a beacon. Stop by the Triton enclosed trailer that is flying the NW Glacier Cruisers banner. Someone there will hook you up as well.
Only a few more days!

See ya on the hill!:beer;:)

You better find a beacon if you leave the parking lot without one you are crazy. I have seen to many avys around here and been on too many rescues because people dont have beacons. Stop and charge one on your credit card if you have to most dealers sell them at cost!

alright alright! jesus i didnt think it would be such a big deal i wasnt going to go if the avy chances were high anyways but thanks for the feedback and ill look into getting a beacon asap
