Yup - my thoughts exactly. Once upon a time (2012-2018) Polaris offered a 600 144 RMK that came in at 45X pounds and was about a grand cheaper than the others and was a really great sled for folks who weren't the most hardcore in the world.Well ... that was great for the top end of the market but the mid-market got nothing - still same lame carbureted 550 fanner and seven models in the old Pro chassis. The Axys chassis is completely gone but the Pro chassis lives on? What the he*ll? No 200 for the kiddos, no decent small mountain sled for new riders, just a 12 year old out of date chassis with a carbureted engine. Umm... guess Poo will let the other manufacturers capture the new riders. Seems like a dumb move to me but what do I know? I'm sure we all switched brands after growing up on whatever our dads had, right?
Now their stupid 650 SKS 146 comes in at 525 pounds therefore making it an absolute joke. Sad day for the mid-market for sure - especially with Ski-Doo now discontinuing their 600 146 SP as well this year.
Polaris does now offer the superrad 650 146 Khaos Slash, but it is definitely not a sled for the price-sensitive.
Very likely, at this point, with those moves, that my Dad has purchased his last sled ever a year and a half ago. Kind of a sad day to see.
