2019

I rode a 2018 ski doo 850 today. Hands down best motor, track and clutching I have ever rode. The skis suck and the thing doesn't handle nearly as good as the old XM did. The Shot starter is sort of handy and the grip heaters were outstanding. Why they didn't put the motor, track, etc. in the XM chassis is weird. The XM worked pretty good. Anyway, I hope Polaris comes out with a winner worth snowchecking this year. 165 horsepower with a track as good as the doo 3" would be nice. The 3.5" pitch track was the best I have ever been on. Too bad the chassis is a POS!

:lol::lol: I rode Polaris Pro Rmk and Axys from 2011-2017, (3 155 and 2 163) for a reason;)
XM was not fun in any condition!
Switched over to Doo when G4 850 came and never looked back to Poo!

So far after two 850 I'm happier then ever and I think I drive better then ever:)

So back too Poo, I hope they have a new engine in the air for -19, that can be a home run....

Weird.....
I thought this thread was about a new Polaris...?

I sort of got off base on it. Just coming around to the 19 Polaris. Looks like it will be my choice. Thought the Ski Doo 850 might be something to consider. Not after Saturday. It is just not as fun as an Axys or, dare I say, as clickable.

I really don't want to see anything with an 80mm stroke again.

The 866cc '900' with it's 86mm bore/80mm stroke was, by nature of the stroke, a bit of a 'gyro' that resisted directional changes... and that one had a lightweight porkchop crank in it to start with. (lighter than the new doo 850 crank) I was fortunate enough to be able to compare the Factory 2007 Dragon 600/700/and 900 in identical the Dragon factory chassis'... very noticeable difference in the 900 to the 6/700's... not much diff between the 600 and 700 though.

I really hope they don't increase the stroke that much on any new releases.
AND....
They still offer a compact 800cc package !

Regardless of the packaging... the larger crank makes it harder to throw the sled around for any given chassis.

I guess there's a market for the big stuff, but not with me

I'd like to see what the G4 chassis feels like with a 600 or 800 in it. :face-icon-small-win

I would like to see Polaris come out with a 84mm bore / 78 mm stroke = 865 cc

I believe they could get into the mid 170s hp with more torque from the longer stroke

Then let the aftermarket guys put 87.5 mm pistons [940cc] in there and get into the mid to upper 190s hp possibly even 200hp on pump gas

In conjunction with the light weight of the axys this combo would make for a great sled but that's just me and wishful thinking

Jack Struthers built a handful of 935 motors in the Escape chassis. They were stroked 910s. I had one. They had unbelievable power compared to the 910 that wasn't a slouch. I didn't notice any gyro effect with it. It rode like the 800 but would pack the skis like a turbo. Hottest non turbo sled that I ever rode. It was a carb motor with twin pipes. It was very altitude specific. Jetting was essential to get it running right. The twin pipes would also have problems in deep snow unless you put the exhaust outlet in the shock tower area. That pretty much cured the deep snow sniffing problem. A modern efi variation of that motor in an Axys chassis would be nuts even if it only had a single pipe. The thing was reliable too. It would run away from any of the 1000 cc sleds of that era. A fine motor from one of the best minds in the business!

I run a T8rz 910 in my 2013 Pro (90mm bore x 70mm stroke).

I rode the stroked version, 962cc, in a 2016 Axys in the 74mm stroke. Stock single pipe, cut down.

Major major difference with the longer stroke.

That 962 is violently fun.

I think Wayde is going to sell his personal sled (the one I rode).
Talk to Turbo Tater on here for more information.

Interesting! I run jacks 910 in my 04 proxr and love it! A 935 would be even better! I guess if the 910 ever needs an overhaul i will look into jack making it a 935 possibly.

19's

if they do open up the bore size, lets all hope they have actually done copious amounts of testing. thin skirts created such nightmares from 08-12. maybe a better piston design as well. these shorty pistons are not the ticket. collapsed piston skirts allowing the piston to rock and unseating the rings. plenty of 16,17 owners chasing their tail trying to find performance losses after 5-600 miles. not all but plenty enough.

Never Never Never buy a Dragon 800!!!! I live by that Moto !!

I've had 10-15 86-96's 10+ 800 XCRs , 5 600/700 Gen 2 twins , 10+ 800 Edge models , 4 600/700 Dragons, 2 11's and a 12' and didn't have any issues .. 3 13's, 4 15's , 2 17's , a 18 .. 2 19's.

Every POLARIS I've owned got me home , some not in one piece but all running !
