2019

Why a 850. Why stay so close to the “other” guy power wise? Why not a 860 or 900. And forget the 866 aka 900 of the past. They won’t go there again. They learned quickly. Hence the very short lifespan of that sled. Please for the love of god. Someone put us over 200hp without the tilt a whirl skid/track/mono/motion/thingamabob.

Me buy?

What would it take to get me to get rid of my 16 and buy a new 19? Leave everything the exact same and offer it from the factory with a 37" front end. That's it. I'm pretty easy to satisfy.

However, if they go throwing some bigger motor in there or something, then I won't be buying for a couple more years as I wait and see how that motor plays out.

I'm definitely quite a bit different than the average person on this forum. :face-icon-small-hap

My bud has the same thoughts, his 16 SLP piped 800 is worn out, 3000 miles, having issues every ride. He just picked up a 2018 new LE Axys for under 10K to finish the season, he said that he didn't want a new one, he isn't excited about it, all he wants is his old sled to run well. So he will be swapping his clutching, pipe, suspension, etc over to the new one. If Poo can make the new 850 run better than an SLP 800, great. But I doubt it. And gamble on a new engine?

850 is a cc number, not horsepower number. I am not sure what exact cc the Doo is, or what the Poo cc will be. But they won't be the same.
It may be the engine size that works. Obviously 900 Poos didn't work. 1000 cc Cats, and Doos weren't so hot. The number seems to have settled on 800 lately. New technology may make the larger engines work. I had a M1000 with 220 horse, no turbo, but that didn't catch on.
It is ALL marketing. Any manufacturer can build a sled at pretty much any horsepower that they want. I have a Cat Factory Mod kit that I am putting on a 2017 Cat SX6000R in my shop, it will push 180-185 horse. How long will it last? Prolly not that long. But it will be fun.
The manufacturers want to one-up each other every year, but every horsepower they add can take away reliability. So they take it a little bit at a time. (Poo built an Axys that SLP upped the horse 15HP with a pipe, I don't know anyone that will ride an Axys without one?) Poo left a lot on the table to be sure that the engine would last, after the 2011-2015 Pro 800 mess.
Cat could release a 250 horse C-tec next year, most of them would most likely have warranty claims due to consumer abuse, where would they be in the long run?
I ran out of rant, beer is empty, gonna go get some spaghetti.
Sweet Daddy D

I'm in the exact same boat. I love my boosted 16. Probably going to buy the 18 sitting at the dealer and enjoy that for the next couple years. Perfect sled. I know they have to keep changing **** to make us buy new but this combo I have right now is perfect.

I love my 2018. However, I see where Polaris will have to do something to keep market share. They have been targeted ever since the 2011 Pro came out. When you have the best handling chassis and several has switched back to Polaris that will happen. So the other manufactures keep making their better and adding band-aids to try to achieve what Polaris has in Handling. 2018 I am hearing the Cat chassis is close, so next year with Alpha should be amazing for certain types of riding. Ski-doo has the 850 with T-motion, flex edge, super skinny stance all in effort to make it feel pull over easier. So Polaris cant sit still like they did in the past. They need to keep moving this segment forward.

Does this help you out any?

Fake news! Your worse than CNN!

So skidoos power ranger 850 line is out.

Articat alpha ***** (in purple) is out.

Lets see the spy pics!? Come on who knows whats up? :eyebrows:

The extra weight is the new motor
I did hear it runs very strong

I would hope a hypothetical new motor replacing one that's been in consumer hands since 2007 (lots of changes over the years and improvements but same stuff different day).... Would be rumored to run strong? Lol. Come on that's like saying polaris is going to have red snowcheck specials.

There is a cylinder efficiency wall around 400 cc relative to bore X stroke X speed. Atleast going off of olav aaens work. I for one hope to god and would be thrilled to see 2019 900 triple. (Using the existing 600 piston rod and crank dimensions. Mono jug tripple. Direct injected. Tuned 3 into 1 pipe. This could put the power output hopefully around 160-180 stock. While being more reliable than existing 800s. Cheaper to manufacture. Ect.

There would be lots of room for the aftermarket to make more power with pipes, big bores and boost. Everyone wins... And by that I mean polaris riders continue to dominate the steep and deep Lol. (One can be hopeful right?)

they are actually riding them as we type for the photo shoot that will be for the dealer show , and that is what they said '
"the new motor pulls extremely hard and it runs really strong
that's all I got from them

we need 850 because alphacat took flickable
More like " FLEX'N'FLICK " can't wait to ride ONE and feel how it works. Already ridden the Doo, I like the power and it handles well, still no Axys but still decent with great power. Hope Polaris adds more refinements to the Axys chassis (wiring, clutching, ext....) And if this rumor of a bigger mill is true, I hope they are not rushing it just to say they have one. So I keep reading on these threads March 5th or 6th..... Witch is it???

The magazine guys are riding all of the 19s now in Island Park. You will know what they think soon. I suppose that they are sworn to secrecy on the Polaris stuff until Monday.

I'm mostly excited about the idea of retro xlt graphics. Those cat guys think they know purple... Lol

Two weeks ago I went to the dealer and walked out with an '18 800 Axys for my wife - who immediately decided she wanted to leave it black with a black tunnel and do purple powder coating to all the raw aluminum. Then yesterday I saw the Alpha thing - damn they stole my wife's idea before we could make it to the powder coater! There are spies everywhere! Hahaha

FYI $11,450 for an Axys 800 155" 2.6 with E start, Durmas racing clutching set up and 3 year factory warranty. Could have been under 10 with no e start, no clutching, and 1 year warranty.

I must say Polaris is doing a really good job of hiding all the 19 product. Not even a single spy shot.
