2019

For 2019, it looks like the same pistons, stroker crank for 840 cc displacement, but all new chassis. I thought Polaris wasn't releasing a new engine and new chassis in the same year anymore, but the motor isn't really new, just a longer stroke. Should be a torque monster.

does it come on the rmk modells to? :P not like 2010 when only rush came with the new chassi

I've got two Mercedes, one just over 200k, the other 240k with original engine and transmission. Now, they're an 89 and a 90, from before their quality went down the toilet. But yeah, part of the reason I'm still riding my EDGE is it's durable and cheap/easy (most things) to work on. I'll upgrade eventually, probably buy something brand new down the road, but only when I can pay cash and unload it once it's out of warranty without grimacing. Guess it speaks to what Polaris is building these days – and you can tell by my vehicles – I don't like dumping money into things that are built to be disposable.

An Edge is NOT as easy as new ones to work on .. be it most of my time is in the clutch and Chaincase areas.. these new motors have zero issues .. I Know I'm going to get shot down on this but I have Never had a Motor issue out of the 40+ Polaris Sleds I've owned ..

Only Engine issues I ever had were a Bender 600HO and a Pro 5 Open Mod when I decided I wanted to have a Amsoil Sponsership ( Cuz then it was cool even Schuring was using it ) and destroyed both of my Mods in a few laps The 800 in Practice and 600 3 laps into LCQ after I fought with a low Power issue , So I jetted it down to get some heat in the pipes .. both were spot on with Redline .. then the famed Am Soil ( cranks were blued , and Nik scored far enough to need re-Nik and clean ports up )

Never Never Never buy a Dragon 800!!!! I live by that Moto !!

I've had 10-15 86-96's 10+ 800 XCRs , 5 600/700 Gen 2 twins , 10+ 800 Edge models , 4 600/700 Dragons, 2 11's and a 12' and didn't have any issues .. 3 13's, 4 15's , 2 17's , a 18 .. 2 19's.

Every POLARIS I've owned got me home , some not in one piece but all running !

My 93 kitty cat runs better than my '16 axys 800. Sure the Rmk physically runs and will get me home, just don't expect it to hit any sort of peak rpm, idle correctly, not melt relays, leak coolant, and blow shocks along the way....all in the first 300 miles of a $11k sled. Maybe the guy on the Edge is on to something

Why don't you try riding it for some time, really let the bugs work their way out.:spider:
If I could buy a new sled every year, it would probably be a Polaris 800.. It just doesn't work that way for most people.. We need to live with it.. Or cut your loses and sell it.

I've been trying to work this deal since 2001 , I had to finance them until the 2016 model year . The only way to get ahead of the MSRP VS Trade is to be on a new every year cash sale program.

I and the other 4 guys have been in the truck for 30 hour trips three or four times a year discussing how to get ahead of the game ..

When we would go out west 3 times a year and rent it costs about $1000 a week with zero lose

Finance it Here and go the same amount out west $2500 plus $1500 lose on trade each year

Own Here go out same amount $1500 a year with same lose on trade

We have had long meetings with our dealer outside of the Dealership !! Our lose is $2000 each year but we get $1000 of parts or repairs for Free and 10% over cost (25% off Retail ,Pretty Normal) on parts and accessories.. and buy at $750 over dealer cost !! ( I buy $2000-5000 in parts a year plus the other 3):juggle::juggle:

They totally understand the meat and potatoes of the deal .. they make money on us and we bring them trades that are highly sought after being they have all the top end accessories on models not available during the season and less than 2000 miles with colors that stand out to attract quick sales

So he makes $3000 to $4500 .. Annually!! With our program!
If it was just one sale he would make $1500 maybe .. ONE TIME
And Zero loyalty I go to whatever dealer has it or has a better deal!

Cost involved with a one time new purchase would be the $1500 plus lose $1500 each year for 5 years

My way !! Initial investment was costly at $12,500 and my lose is still $1500 on trade but my new costs only $750 over Dealer cost ( Golden Tickets are Good years )so the only other cost is 6% Sales tax and $33 title . It does cost $3000 probably with insurance, but I started with rentals that cost me that if I don't hurt them!!

Talk to your dealer and make a plan and follow through with it .. this isn't a one year one guy deal you need a few to get some buying power and benefit your dealer in the initial sale as well as the Used sale that's worth about the same amount you paid initially ... And no dorky wraps !

I do have other stuff I ride at home .. a 88 Indy 500 with a Pro-Stock 600 twin and Side Exit 9500 RPM Crank Shop pipes , and a 91 Indy 500 with a 1000 Storm and side exit PSI Modblasters very fun to ride ( engine sits 3" lower in Storm Chassis so it wheelies on the flap as soon as you touch the fun flapper) !! For vintage rides and around town .. And a 1999 XC 600 ICE Oval Super Stock race sled ! A 975 Fusion with Nitrous , a ZR 600 tramp (Everyone rides it ) a stock 90 Indy 500 with 250 original miles and lots of non running junk that got dropped off and left

What do you mean Addiction I can stop !!!;

Loving my EDGE (04 pro-xr with 910) on the prairies.

Unfortunately in the mountains the edge chassis is a tank, i tried that deal. I have had good luck with the '11 pro rmk though, probably stick with it for along time. Would love a new sled but the price and maintenance costs are just getting too high!

To say this thread went off the rails wold be an understatement....

Think a full production snowbike is in the cards for 2019?

If Polaris does come with a 840/850/860/870 how many guys would buy it the first year??? I trade every 2 yrs and 19 is the year sooo?

I honestly don't... and my logic is this:

1) None of the motorcycle manufacturers care enough/at all to develop their own. They get most of the benefit and 0 of the risk with the current system....as they just sell a bike and the rest is up to the consumer.
2) None of the motorcycle manufacturers have an engine currently in production that is better suited to snowbiking than the current crop of 350/450/500's
3) Given 1 & 2 ... a track kit manu teaming up with a bike manu to build a bike ... there won't be any significant advantage over what's currently available.
4) Leaving 1, 2 & 3 totally aside....that would leave a sled or track kit manu to develop their own chassis, motor and drive system basically from the ground up. And the end product would have to be notably better than the solutions already available. I just don't see the risk being worth that kind of expense. Right now the manu's selling track kits have it pretty easy .... simple R&D, minimal warranty claims, and likely better margins than they would have with a full package.

I would love to be wrong....but I don't see it. Look at that Arctic Cat thing...ya it's a "factory snowbike," but it pretty much max's out the "meh-o-meter"

Anyone see the pics of the cat monorail suspension (with fresh snow in it) today on Facebook?
