2018 Photos

* Lightweight aluminum drive shaft (3-lb. weight savings);

* Hollow driven shaft (2.25 lbs. lighter);

* 5-lb. lighter gas tank (on Sno Pro/Mountain Cat non-electric start models)

So they are still saying this. Why the hell wouldn't you put that information out when you release the 18 mountain cat though? Just seems like retard marketing to me. And they need to quit telling everyone about new features that were on last years sled.

So looks like the Mountain Cat is now just like the limited was in 16. Upgraded shocks with all M's getting the same upgraded parts. I think going non estart and then adding it later is the way to go. You get the lighter seat and tank just have to find a spot in the engine compartment to mount the battery. This way would only add half the weight for the estart guys.

Agree:

Article says 16 lbs lighter - MC 18 vs MC 17.

Add the following:

panels -1lb
new brake assembly -1.3lbs

Total 12.55

So that leaves 3.45lbs - most of that could be in the front bumper if it comes with the standard bumper. The one pictured above weighs 3.5lbs, per the accessory catalog. The standard pumper can't weight much. So maybe a 1lb difference in motor weight? I would think the shocks weigh a little more.

Splitting hairs here but still fun to know. I do agree, these points should be marketed better though. Wish the weight loss items above came directly from AC.

Snowest FB post says 15lbs lighter.

2018 mountain cat

Can somebody with some good photo shop skills black out the tunnel on the mountain cat.
I think you'll like how it turns out.

Im not buying any of the "fake news" features we heard about until its on the cat site. they put all of their mtn. cat features on the site last year...

Yeah something seems off to me as well? No snowcheck info or color packages or perks to even snowcheck? And I agree I think the Mc with a black tunnel would look awesome

I'm pretty happy with the 18' cat. If you are whining about the colors go buy the smurf blue skidoo (yea the only snowckeck color they offer) or get an early release MC in all black in the next couple weeks.

Country cat just posted a video of the mountain cat, that they learned today that it's an additional 10lbs (roughing)

Off what the 17?

My dealer just called me and told me both the sno pro and the Mountain cat will have all the lightweight parts on them, and that the only difference from the MC and sno pro are the LED headlights, and shocks.

I don't mind the new Cat's colors. I really like the grey early release 18s myself but I could see where some might not like the lack of color options. Cat could potentially attract more customers if they provided more color options at least for snowchecking like Polaris does. $13-$14,000 is lot of money for only one color option. Btw all the manufacturers advertise about "new" features even though they've had it for 3-4 years but Cat seems to do it the most.

New switch setup from Speedwerx looks so damn nice. Supposed to be plug and play, and $200. Hand warmers and high beams are on the console at the steering post.

When is more info available on this? My 14's switches are in need of tossing!!!

if the 11 pounds off the MC is true that would be significant. would want to see how the new shafts hold up tho.
wonder if they leave the goggle bag of so it can breathe better, i know its an accessory item now but a lot of heat comes through there, i pop mine out and warm my hands sometimes.
