Just got the 2017 153 and 162 mountain cat in. They look super good. First thing fill up the fluids and put on the scale. Six lbs lighter than my 153 2016 green sled. About what cat claims for a weight loss.

Sorry, photo is of the crate weight. Can't get the RTR weight pic to download, but it was 547lbs.

Clutching is 85/255 spring with 68 gram weights and 48 degree helix.

All the complaints on here about the '17's. I like them a lot-the looks at least. The limited especially. I'll gladly take 1 or 2.

Everybody's griping about the green.....meh......looks just as ugly as the one from last year. :D

I'm just dying to see what aftermarket options are out for the drop and roll setup for 16 and older sleds. Whoever does a belt drive dropped case is gonna be in bidness!

Still think it's ugly, but my order is already in so I guess I'll deal with it. Need more people riding em so we know how much better they are.

Width of plastic

I'm wondering how much they pulled the plastic in with the narrower running boards?
I haven't seen where a measurement was posted.
Any chance you could measure it and post what you find?

So where do I go for information on the Mountain Cat. I need more information to make a decision. I personally do not like the green but will ride anything if it performs better. Does the drop driveshaft make much difference? I am assuming I can do the track swap if I do not want the 3". I will be buying 2. One for myself and one for son so I need to know if the mountain cat is worth the money. I know I can buy one of each but if one rides a lot better than the other I know who will get stuck riding it. ??. The most information I have found was in Snowest mag. Article. I feel pinched for time.

--8 tooth drivers and dropped drive shaft make for a more efficient drive train= more power to the snow no matter how deep or hard pack it is or what size track

--lower angle of attack of track to snow allows it to ride up on snow better as opposed to a more trenching or cutting through the snow effect

--worked well on both sleds I dropped and rolled

--narrow boards also are good

Just to let you know I am willing to let you adopt me. So you will need to buy three.

Just saw the new mountain cats today , the pictures DO NOT do these sleds justice ! They are super sharp in person . I really think arctic cat is missing the boat by not getting some of these sleds out at sneak peek shows for people to see .

I measured a bunch of stuff on the 153" at Cutler's.

Belly pan is sucked in 2.75" from my 2016. The 17 measured 30" wide right where the side panel / belly pan meets the running boards. My 16 is almost 33" in the same spot.

I was pretty impressed with the amount of changes I found while climbing around and looking at it!

I think if Cat would have had new plastics on it they would have turned the old Proclimb into a super sick sled! They came so close, but came up short and will be in second place again.

Does anyone know for sure if the yammy sidepanels fit?

I think you could easily get them on the chassis, the problem will be connecting the air box / intake.

Also the new yammi plastics have a nose cone that wraps out to and around the old standard bumper. So if you actually go for the new plastics, you gotta go for the full every single piece from the seat forward. Then mod from there. Expensive!:juggle:

About an inch more narrow on each side.

Most dealers have 1 or 2 for customers to see, and in most cases ride. If they don't they will shortly.

Thanks for the data. That's a pretty big improvement. It would seem the width improvement at the boards and bellypan is the most important thing, No? Congrats to Cat for finally listening and improving that aspect of the Proclimb.
