2017 GM HD Duramax

Looks like gm is having issues with 17s none to be found. I was told would be late January unacceptable in my book. Going to ford dealer on Wednesday see what they have. Gm might as well not have a 17 go right to 18.

I have two on my lot right now. About 4 more headed my way. Your dealer either forgot to order or they don't know the deal.

Truck has a ton of power. You can really feel that extra power. It's really seamless. It just pulls and pulls and pulls. Doesn't take a downshift. Obviously empty, but I was really impressed. The engine bay has changed to accommodate the new intake and motor changes.

With the prices on these new trucks... I'll call it fantasy league transport !!

DAMN!!

Any blue Denali?

It's nice they are finally closing the gap to ford. A buddy of mine is a gm salesman and so I test drove a 3500 in April. Made it half mine down the road and hated the lack of power. We did a 4-5 mile loop and it was very evident the power wasn't there.

If i had to drive a one ton everyday a might consider a gm bc they ride nice but for me I have it to do truck stuff.

Lack of power? I had an LML and it was plenty of power. I pulled a two axle trailer with three sleds, fuel and gear and went 75 over Colorado passes. Empty I could go well beyond the speed limit. I'm not saying that more power isn't good, but how is it that wasn't enough power? Perhaps you were pulling a huge 5th wheel and couldn't go 65 over a steep pass?

in 2016 the dmax was 40hp and 115ftlbs down on power from the psd. it was instantly apparent. it felt like i was driving my 2010 psd again.

not saying it wasn't enough to get the job done - just not the psd performance. i don't tow a huge trailer usually 21-22k GCVW across the scales.

4-5 miles empty and you can tell? Amazing. Buy what makes you happy, justify it however you like. Lack of power is not a problem with the GM. All of these trucks can haul a heavy *** load over whatever mountain you like and at speeds you most certainly should not be driving at.

Took my 17 duramax denali with airbags and sled trailer to Wyoming this last week, few things I can tell different from the 16..

Tq is better, pulls hills pretty decent, mileage averaged just over 8 gmg pulling hard, but truck is about 1.5 inches taller for some reason and have some body role, it's pretty bad actually compared to the 16 and will take back to dealer this week to see why.. Scares a guy passing semis in a cross wind..

Other than that trucks are the same..

Made my first trip with 17 Denali hd 1300 mile averaged 10.1 running 75 to 80 pulling a 7 ft by 31 trailer. I'm realy impressed with ride motor is very quiet has lots of power. The torque is just amazing. I had some wheel roll when passing I think it's the stock good years. Truck had only 400 miles when I left so I hope to gain a little mpgs

Did you play with the Torsion bars? You have a 2500 or 3500?

Has anyone heard or read anything about the 2018 2500hd trucks getting a new body and possibly a 8 speed transmission.

Is it 8spd or 10spd?
Ford and GM worked together to make the 10spd for the halftons. Same deal with the HD trucks?

The 10-speed is a half ton/LD transmission. It's the same one in the Raptor right now.

GM is being pretty quiet about it. It looks like the half ton will be new in 2019. Although that could mean late 2018, maybe even a summer release. Usually the HD follows the half ton, but no reason they have to do it that way. GM is always a little slow. But they are still selling a ton of trucks. We can't keep them in stock on the HD duramax side.
