My plan... I'm going to do my own spray in on the sides... plastic caps on the rails and gate top... and rubber mat on the floor and gate.

I like the weathertech... even over the line-X

Spray on liner WITH the rubber mat and you are HOME FREE.

Black Armour™ Bed Mats are ½” thick and weigh up to 100lbs. They are the biggest and baddest truck bed mat around, so if you need superior bed and cargo protection – look no further.

I guess I could just "Google that sh!t"

Ha.

Nice price... Less than $175 with free shipping.

I guess the reason for the aluminum floor goes out the window though at 100 lbs. ... but I really don't think it's going to affect mileage.

Maybe ford will do a hybrid with a steel floor bonded to aluminum body in the future.

I like these too... they fit like a glove...just like their floor mats which I think are the bees-knees too.

weather tech mats are nice but i like the husky liners better the lip on the low side is a bit taller and keeps all the melted snow contained so it doesn't run off into the carpet.

Not this year,.
They will just be rolling onto the dealer lots in quantity in late Fall.
Would be VERY surprised to see any big deals on this new model.

I'll take that bet......just watch. I have never paid anywhere near MSRP for a new Ford, new release or not, and I buy every 3-4 years. My '13 had a 65k MSRP and I paid 51....which is still crazy high for a truck!

Agreed.
No need to spend MSRP at all.
But.
I don't think we are doing to be seeing any KILLER DEALS way below published dealer invoice either.

December is always a good time to buy a new truck.
Last Quarter of the Year
Last Month of the Quarter
Last Week of the Month
Last hours of the day when they are thinking about closing up and going home.

After Christmas before New Years, often find some great deals to be had.

How are the diesels in these SuperDuty's?
Track Record?
Known issues? (if any)
Cost to maintain?
What has been changed for 2017 with the engine?

What are the most common mods that many feel are "necessary" (if any)

All sincere questions.

So far as I have been able to see it looks like this will be an IDENTICAL engine, mechanically, but with some tuned electronics maps to produce a little bit more Horsepower and Torque.

fairly sure that the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V-8 will be carried over intact, since it was overhauled for 2015 to the tune of 440 horsepower and 860 lb-ft of torque.

===

Other Ford news from the Work Truck Show, which runs Friday, included smaller improvements for the Power Stroke 6.7-liter V-8 turbo-diesel, making it both quieter at idle and at 60 mph.

Ford has NOT yet released the 2017 HP and Torque numbers..

Interesting little nugget of info here today.

The new Super Cab models are also growing. The new models are 6 inches longer, while Regular Cab and Crew Cab are stretching 4 inches each versus prior generations. Notable in the length, Rathsburg says,(marketing manager for Ford’s Super Duty) is that while the cabs got bigger, the cab to axle length is unchanged.

“We added more space without changing the upfit specs,” he says.

Super Duty also features six auxiliary switches—up from four in previous model years—and they’ve been moved to the headliner for easier access. Amperage gets a boost from 25 to 40 amps on the first two, which are always hot. The remaining four switches are 25 amps each.

Ford announced a very blue-collar option for its most white-collar pickup trucks this week. "Premium" vinyl floors are coming to the Super Duty King Ranch and Platinum trims.

While vinyl floors on something like a $58,000-luxury pickup might make for an odd juxtaposition, we have to admit, Ford's application here looks like it deserves the "premium" part of its name. Rather than loose, ill-fitting floors, like you get on a work truck, Ford used thicker vinyl and molded the Super Duty's floors properly. The results are impressive – it doesn't look cheap at all.

"Super Duty customers want a truck that can rival luxury cars in comfort and technology without having to worry about it getting dirty," Ford truck group marketing manager Doug Scott said in a statement. "They want the luxury of a King Ranch or Platinum edition, while maintaining their ability to use the truck for work without fear of ruining the interior."

The new floors are standard on the 2017 Super Duty XL and will be optional on the XLT, King Ranch, and Platinum.

The only known repeat issues I've heard of coming out of the diesel shop my friend works in, and a Ford dealership prior to that, are some turbo failures in the 2011 models (first year of this motor). They used ceramic bearings in the turbo which are great for load and high heat, but thermal shock is not good for ceramics. Turbos were changed in 2012.

Cost of ownership kind of depends on how you operate, what your maintenance schedule is, and how long you want to keep the truck. 10k mile oil changes make me cringe and I plan on using trucks for 300,000 miles so it cost me more in services than some guys.

I'm a believer in DPF and EGR deletes on any newer diesel truck along with an intake that lets them breathe. Lets the engine operate more efficiently and keeps the oil much cleaner which will hopefully help longevity as long as you are disciplined and don't abuse the added power. Getting expensive and harder to do though. Might not even be able to get a tuner for a 2017 that will allow it.

Does seem like the Feds have been cracking down on Diesel tuners of late.
