2017 F250 Superduty

Thread Rating
5.00 star(s)
Just saw today that the '17 Superduty can be ordered with a heavier gauge rubber floor mat instead of carpet even in the super high-income earner trim levels like the KR and Limited.

That's a nice truck, but I have a hard time swallowing it being worth 7 times what mine is worth!!!!!!!!

It's not ... especially at end of the year sale...Stack 'em deep , Sell 'em cheap.
Not this year,.
They will just be rolling onto the dealer lots in quantity in late Fall.
Would be VERY surprised to see any big deals on this new model.

I really like the light/stiff Ford design...but the floor of the bed has me thinking that aluminum might not be best in that area....

I'm a Fan of this new Ford for 2017... what upgrades has Ford done for the bed compared to this 2016?

Well if that is how you are going to use your truck, and you fail to use a bedliner, then you sir have a weaker than average cranium.
Using this criteria, the Honda Ridgeline is a tougher truck than ford gm or dodge.
Bottom line, it's a stupid commercial aimed at stupid people.

I seen this too and figured a Line-X bedliner was a must. I would think on the Superduty even with the additional support I would want one. I know for me personally that is the first thing to go into a new truck. The 2nd is added or improved lighting.

GM is going to be using Aluminum very soon. They have multiple patents on bonding (welding) Aluminum to Steel right now so they can reduce the weight and still have some components made of steel.

I don't think the 1/2 ton market is where the rough and tumble crowd reside. The aluminum in the Super Duty line would likely be where the users would be loading heavy items into the back more often, but surely they would be taking some precautions.

From a marketing perspective the Ad is VERY WELL DONE.
It clearly conveys the "Toughness" of steel over aluminum.

But from REAL WORLD perspective its just ignorant.
No one is going to take a NEW raw truck and abuse it like that.

LineX or Rhino Liner, or a heavy load pad would be the first thing someone puts into a brand new truck that is destined for HARD USE.

A rubber pad might protect it from dents or cuts... but rhino... not so much.

I use my truck for a lot of construction and yard/rock hauling... I don't dump like that... but I do make slips or have issues... (like a 502 Chevy big block tipping over in the bed and leaving a healthy dent).

New trucks get treated well.. put some years and use on them... that "babying" can slip to the wayside from time to time.

summ8rmk, how are they setting up the 2 layers?

.

I agree with Christopher, that's an excellent marketing tactic.

In my old 94 I had a plastic drop in liner that offered excellent protection, I never had to worry about practically anything hurting it... I pulled it out one time, and aside from the bed being 'polished' from the liner moving around, the body was in excellent shape. My current truck I opted to do a spray in liner and I do like how things are FAR less likely to slide around on it, but it doesn't provide the drop or cut resistance that a plastic drop in liner would. As a result, if I'm carrying something sharp, or that I'm planning to shovel out (gravel, dirt, etc) I throw down a piece of plywood, and I also will not load my sled right onto it because I'm sure the carbides would cut into it as well. Bottom line, the next liner I have to install to protect the working end of my truck from whatever use or abuse comes it's way, will be a plastic drop-in.

I don't recall exactly. I know the ribs have a different design for increased strength. I may have misspoke earlier. The floor is either 2layers or twice as thick as the F150, i am pretty sure it is 2layers. I will have to look for the article.

For the guys using a "spray in liner" I assume you are not using a Line-X brand one? The reason I ask is I have yet to see one of those "dented" inside the bed from loading anything on it so I was wondering if someone had a picture of one dented or knows of that brand getting dented.

I had a rhino spray in the last truck and I agree with MH that while it provided protection it was not bombproof like the Line-X stuff is. Plus it faded...Bad!!

I've seen so many trucks rusted under the plastic ones here in MN so that's not an option.

my truck has the spray in and i still put in the drop in. have moved the drop in from the last two truck so it looks a bit beat up. the newer drop ins have some texture to them now so not so much of thing sliding around.

Drop in liners r good for static electricity, especially good while filling gas cans!

I still see older gentleman(70's) filling cans in the back of trucks.
Not me. I have a rhino liner and still fill up on the ground.
