2016 arctic cat launch @ Saturday, March 1, 2015

I'd rather replace pistons every other year on a real mountain sled than ride a long tracked trail sled with 'made in Bangladesh' fit and finish and a Fisher Price drivetrain....just sayin' :becky:

Even that "real" mtn sled was a trail sled for a year before it became an rmk.

That's what I was thinking, but how were they as far bulk compared to what we have now? I don't have any experience with those sleds. Also didn't the intake run out to the front of the sled instead of up out of the snow like the m's? Is there room to have the tighter pipe plus get intake up out of the snow?

no the intakes ran up the side of the sled tight to the side panel .
took in air behind head light just like M

Interesting, where did you hear this??

2014 Arctic Cat Snowmobiles
2014 Arctic Cat M800 Sno Pro will look the same from the outside, but Arctic Cat will introduce a new direct injection 650 cc mountain M SnoPro coming in at 140 horsepower and the Suzuki manufactured throttle bodied 800 will be replaced with a new direct injection 850 at 170 horsepower for the best Arctic Cat M to hit the slopes.

I have a 2015 M8000 and I friggen love it. My biggest complaints with this sled however is snow ingestion past the panels. There is no reason why cat should have ever put the side panels on opening suicide and mating on the outside of the front panel and even then the fit is terrible. I have been out in some awesome snow condition this week. 80cm of fresh blow snow. But cold weather sugar. My steering box in the front cone and the steering arm boots fill with so much snow the steering has locked up on my 4 times this week. I would really like cat to alter their plastics streamlining the sled tighter with less negative cavities and address there fit. I find my sled much more predictable than an XM and have much more reliable power than a pro. Being a big rider (230#) I am scared to own a poo chassis too. My buddies tweak more rails on Pros that I would ever be comfortable with.

Ok you guys are going to hate me, but I'm actually being serious here....

If Polaris comes out with a new RMK, AND another model closer to a snowbike, AND both are good....

...will Cat's sled division (at least the mountain portion) continue to exist? Or will they close the doors? That will take very substantial monetary investment in to the mountain segment for them to keep up, and they seem apprehensive to do so the past few years. And they don't have pockets as deep as Doo, Pol, or Yamaha. What do you think?

JMHO - ACAT will never give up sleds, it's their identity, and don't think they'll abandon the MTN segment. They have the most loyal repeat buyers. Still some very good R&D people in Tough Rubber Balls. R&D peeps know the products need another year or two of dev, but the marketeers continue to push for early release. The yammy deal has raised their manufacturing skills and quality. They hung in there for years with the Pow Special, Mountain Cat, and M1, etc., until they finally got the M figured out with Houle. They'll do okay, and a new 800/900 based on the 600 will keep the fans happy.

New CEO, but the old board is still in place, and the new CEO will get schooled in the culture. Don't see anyone wanting the whole company anytime soon, or at least until they get alot more snow every year in China. ACAT is here to stay, and that's good.

I said it last year I'll say it again I doubt very much that the new engine if and when the release the new 800 that it would exceed 800cc this takes them out of the most popular cc class in hillclimb and perhaps other racing factions. But I optimistically believe when it comes out it will be lighter and more powerful

F sleds were ****ing junk, morons for wanting one of those POS. retards:noidea:

I was stating the F series had a pipe configuration similar to the "skinny" mountain sleds which worked with the current laydown motor. So it has been done with a different pipe that would allow the side panels to be sucked in. Think before you type, retard.

Cool, you quoted something from sledrumors.com who pulls stuff out of their *** with no real facts behind it lol

Someone please explain how ALL the mountain sleds aren't just longtracked trail sleds?

Funny

Since at least the early 90's that's the way the manufactures came up with the mountain segment, we were long tracking ZRT's and ZR's then and Arctic Cat would have a long track kit you purchased and did the track exchange program with mountain track for 121" tracks. The old F-series turned into the M-series after a couple of years and so on.

figures.. more bs and no facts to back it.

Boy,who $hit in your cherios this morning. I got the info from someone very close to Cat. I'm not going to name him. Don't want to get him in trouble. He said new motor same chassis this year and an all new chassis next year. I guess we will see if I'm right or wrong.

everyone has someone who knows someone who knows someone.. :face-icon-small-con

Well, if your so in the know, what's coming out in a month?

I wish I knew. Was just hoping you knew some reliable info that was worth getting excited for. My dealer hasn't heard anything about thats coming. looks like Ill probably be on a 12 for another year unless something new is coming.

408 lbs at what cost? I have already seen some 2015 pros that after hitting small off camber hits have bent up their tunnels, broke carbon fiber spars and bent rails.

Same as everyone else has said the riders jumped ship because of money.

Look at Dave McLure and Rob Kincaid, they dont seem to have issues in the back country with a Proclimb, watch thunderstruck. Linden Ladoucher(Spelling) he seems to hang in the trees with no issues at all.
Who won snocross and hillcross at x games? Oh thats right Arctic Cat.
Yeah I'm gonna go out and buy an arctic cat because it won hillcross, and then im gonna go do alot of "hillcrossing" with it. The whole so and so won a race so I'm gonna buy the type of sled they ride makes zero sense to me? You realize that the sleds they are riding are nothing even comparable to that sled out of the box, the engine block itself, the bulkhead, and some of the tunnel is probably the only parts of that sled thats actually a Cat, the rest is all aftermarket. There are so many more things that contribute to what sled wins on that day, the actual sled itself deserves so little of the credit. But if we should all buy whatever sled wins races then 50/52 of us should go buy Poo's, because they won 50 out of 52 classes on the rmsha circuit last year, and rmsha is closer to backcountry riding than any other competive snowmobiling event. Its not about the sled, its about the rider and him having a good day. Enough with that rant.

I get a kick out of all the guys who seem to know exactly whats coming next year, and come march every one of you are gonna be wrong... It happens everyyyy year.

And I also get a kick out of everyone who thinks riders like rasmussen just get paid millions of dollars by the company they ride for. Get real. These guys have real jobs and real incomes, they dont make bank just cuz they ride cat poo or doo.

Cats gonna need to step it up in 2016. Period.

I heard Arctic Cat is going belly up and is going to abandon it's entire mountain segment and focus on 2-Up sleds that the skier and snowboarder market is demanding. I believe there will be heated cup holders to keep caramel-lattes warm while skiers traverse up groomed hills.

I heard this from a close friend at Arctic Cat. Trust me. :welcome::der:
