>>>>> 2015 Yamaha Mountain Sleds: VIDEO and PHOTOS, (JUST RELEASED)

CAT

They sure got some ugggggly paint on them there cat's. yami lover's good for you someone could build a mountain sled for you. just not yourself.

So if anyone is looking for a Turbo Nytro let me know. Need to make room in the stable for a new pony next fall.

I have a '13 M8 (or my wife has one I should say) and if it rides anything like the mountain viper, I'm all in. Plus 2K for boost? That is a pretty good deal on a kit that you can upgrade.

Directly from Yamaha's site:

" The MPI Turbo Kit is designed for operation only at elevations above 6000 feet. While installation will not void your snowmobile's warranty, specific failures determined by Yamaha to have resulted from installation of kit components or other modifications may not be covered by the Yamaha limited warranty or extended service coverage. Dealer installation costs not included. "

Also heard gauges and clutching were not included, not verified though.

After 3000 km on a 2 stoke 800 that you saved a couple of grand on the viper will still be like new and could go for another 10 000 being boosted the whole time.

I did the snow check turbo on my 2012 Nytro (MPI turbo for $1500). It cost me $400 for the install/setup. I added a boost gauge after the first few break in rides and it has been gas (91) and go ever since. So I have a 180+HP at altitude for right around $2k over the cost of the new sled.

I also had to to some other mods that are now "stock" on the 2015's (skinz airframes, 2 gallons of gas on the rear for extra range, +3 fwd a-arms, and the steering relocator to move the bars to a more vertical spot) So it looks like yamaha/cat at least paid attention to the list of "required" mods that everyone was doing to the Nytros the last few years.

The 6,000' disclaimer is corporate Yamaha covering their butts. Over on the totallyamaha forum there are a TON of MPI turbo Vipers that are running back east this year (including the site moderator's sled). Guys up in Alaska are also running these 180HP low boost kits (MPI, MCX, Push, etc.) at sea level and not blowing anything up.

We just got back from island park tonight. Had several good days riding in some of the deepest snow I've been in before. This sled works! I don't ever want to ride a nytro again. I've got some gopro video that I need to upload. I'll answer any questions anyone has. I just need some time to catch up on family life, I've been gone for a few days.

Ugly seat and tunnel. Crappy turbo placement option...I don't want a boondocker side-mount. Viper a-arms being upgraded already...what's that tell ya.

I'll stick with my Nytro

14k plus 6k for a boost it kit, in cdn dollars same as a pro lite with 900 in it. It's now a really tough choice.

So is she fat AND ugly?

You shouldn't have put the blue, orange, black, and white photo first, it made me throw up in my mouth. Man she is ugly! Why don't we see more professional teams or corporations with that combination do colors? Because it is hideous! Fire the market research team! Maybe they can get jobs working for Winnebago, cause that's what it looks like on a sled. It's almost like they were trying for retro graphics and it went wrong, horribly wrong. Which is a shame because the RMK's retro was tasteful by the way. That striped beast looks to me to be the new modular helmet, really stripes on the seat and tunnel? It's like an episode of "pimp my ride" for sleds. I wonder why that show isn't on anymore?

What a negative world we live in. Everyone cries for a lighter better handling sled and when they do it most everyone just wants to bash.

I think it is a great looking sled and with the preorder turbo that is a pretty good price for a turnkey boosted sled. I hope there is more coming but seems to be looking up.

Thanks Christopher for posting up all that stuff.

Disappointing. It's hard to be a yamaha loyalist when you always have to wait for "next" year. If I wanted to spend over $15,000 on a 6 year old motor in a 4 year old chassis in buy M5's nypex......

On a side note. I wonder if yamaha's choice to use the Denver Broncos colors on the MTX LE was a metaphor to being the biggest letdown of 2014....... :face-icon-small-sho

Observation.
After reading through 158 posts in this thread I am convinced of one thing.
We have people here, who if they found a Hundred Dollar bill laying on the sidewalk would bitch and moan about having to bend over and pick it up.
