>>>>> 2015 Yamaha Mountain Sleds: VIDEO and PHOTOS, (JUST RELEASED)

Cat guy here but I do like the idea of sway bar option on 38''. Might buy a set to put on my cat with some quick disconnects. I do like the colors and the turbo option. If it was a 240 hp turbo they would draw a lot more interest. I like how all the options have new next to them even tho some of them have been on the M for 4 years. I don't see any new motor option from Yamaha either I was guessing they would put cats new 2 stroke in one just to expand there options.

The MPI Turbo Kit is designed for operation only at elevations above 6000 feet. While installation will not ‘void’ your snowmobile’s warranty, specific failures determined by Yamaha to have resulted from installation of kit components or other modifications may not be covered by the Yamaha limited warranty or extended service coverage. Dealer installation costs not included. Some conditions apply. See dealer for details. Professional rider shown in controlled conditions. Above 6000ft that sucks for a lot of people that ride.. A lot of mountain riders ride below 6000ft.. But hey at least they now have 180hp for an additional 2000 grand plus install.. When you can buy a skidoo, polaris, cat 800 and be close to power. But them 2 strokes will be a whole lot lighter. And hey save you about 3000 grand or so when you first buy one.. Just my opinion.. Maybe next year yami will change something and not just put lip stick on a pig.. But it is real nice lip stick..

Just glad cat is in bed with Yammi and now Polaris is showing signs in Suzuki as a partner for engines!!!!

its not gonna be difficult to turn the power up to 240 on MPI's kit i dont think. so its a 180 to 240 kit pretty easy. just some different tuning and you have your self one heck of a sled.

I think your forgetting the head shim......some guys don't want to screw with that.

new sled

Overall I like them, I'm a cat guy so I guess they appeal to me. I think it is more than BNG and I like where they are going. My biggest complaint with the 4 smokers has always been WEIGHT. I'm not a big tall person and it is hard to handle those types of sleds in the trees and god help us if it gets stuck. I would like to know weights and would like to ride one as a demo. I'm also glad the two manufactures are working together and playing off each others strengths. I think we as consumers will be the big winners in years to come. As for the colors of the new LE, well that's right up my alley being a BSU grad and all!!!:face-icon-small-win

Details

It's a small point but am I the only one that would like to see a "Viper" in the ski loop and rail instead of that "Cat". Give the sled a little individuality. I wouldn't dress twins in the same outfits or even similar outfits........ just saying!

Lol at all the hype. It's a long track Viper, who didn't see that coming. Basically everyone's predictions were right, BNG.

So 13400+ 2k and dealer install your at least 16k. That's a lot for a new sled. Don't get me wrong with a turbo these things are a blast but it's getting pricey considering a cat is already turbo'ed at 177hp for 14500. Again a step in the right direction but still pricey for a lot of people to convert back to yamaha. Don't get me wrong I hope they sell a bunch but I'm still concerned it's not enough. We will see but I think they need to get away from the nytro motor or at least make a competitive motor to a stock 800 along side the nytro motor, it's a great trail motor but not everybody wants to turbo just to compete with other stock sleds.

thats only if you want the nice one. you can pick up the 153 non LE for like 11999 or something. plus 3 grand for turbo and everything puts you at 15500 out the door probably. not to bad. plus all it takes it turning a little boost up and she will out run a stock 800. I like it but thats just my opinon. not trying to start an argument. :face-icon-small-hap

No comments about my last post about riding above 6000 ft and 3000 grand more than anyone else to be at the same power give or take.

It's not the same power, no loss in power in higher altitudes on a turbo. Your 800 2stroke will only have 100-120hp from 6k-10k elevation, where as a turbo anything will have consistent HP.

I was looking at pricing:
162 LE is $13,350 + $2000 for a turbo = 15,350
162 M9000 HCR = $15,400

Pretty evenly matched.

I think your forgetting the head shim......some guys don't want to screw with that.

Alot of AC dealers have been doing Speedwerx and Evo upgrades to the 1100T's; so I'm sure the 240 upgrade will be on a bunch of these sleds next fall before they ever leave the dealers.:face-icon-small-coo

Its been pricey to turbo any sled in the last 11 years. If I have some new found wealth I will be on one myself. Yamaha quality and 4 stroke reliability and Boost it performance will be second to none where I like to ride. Anybody can ride a light sled.... challenge yourself to ride a real sled.

They need to quit producing 600 class motors and release something with 160-170 HP. I'm die hard Yami, but I'm not buying another new 600 mountain sled for $12,000. Especially with all the reports of the Viper being down on power compared to the Nytro. If Yami wants to stick with 125-130 HP motors, they should be priced comparatively to the 600 Pro RMK.
