2015 viper oil pressure issues

Our 2014 always comes back home with the same amount of oil it that it left with every weekend we ride it. I've had some dealers report replacing the oil/air separator with a new unit and the problem goes away?? I just heard from another dealer in Colorado having the same problem on a stock sled, replaced the box and it stop? I don't know what to make of that. Maybe the boxes are faulty? To my knowledge Yamaha has these on back order but Cat uses the same box and has them available. I don't think this the fix all but I'm just passing on what I've heard.

They are on back order like every thing else from the port BS, I've never seen this many. Cargo ships at anchor, Seattle, Tacoma, hell I just flew over LA and a bunch hanging there!:face-icon-small-sho

i had dealer replace oil separator on mine was good for a couple rides but don't think i had sled in that hard left down hill position... thought oh maybe I'm good:face-icon-small-ton then i had to put my sled in that position the very next ride and there she blows :face-icon-small-con.... we actually might have good news i might have something installed now that might make all this go away but have to take it up to see if it works... i will keep you posted

i have not heard of any of the other turbo kits having this issue, wonder if this is being cause by moving the oil separator.but if some guys are having this issue on stock sleds then.:noidea:

Makes me wonder if putting on a phazer or nytro oil tank will be the correct fix. Then we could eliminate this stupid separator. I've got the same vent tube on my turbo phazer. I've rolled it numerous times, and ride it plenty on its side with not a drip.

When I check the oil cold it's at the add mark but if I run it till its hot the oil is at the full mark.
Maybe these sleds are over full? The book say to run the sled till the fan comes on than check the oil.
just my 2cents.

I don't think us moving it has helped the problem out by any means, but its not helping ether.

I think from the guys I've talked with there all checking there oil the wrong way which has led to them being over filled most of the time. I don't think its the main problem but its a contributing factor.

a catch can or breather box will solve the issue been running a test setup and seems to work! A roll over valve is a must otherwise you will lose oil when the sled is upside down! Or on its side

well if the dip stick reads nothing cold then you warm it up and there is still nothing reading on stick well that probably means its low!!!!!!! oh ya i know where the throttle is also anybody up for a ride?

If you rode the nytros hard had same oil issues. I could make the oil roll out doing donuts and on steep slide hills. I don't think yamaha does any testing in real world conditions. Like to here good and bad I'm not brand loyal would like a yamaha with mcx 270. Are these kits having same issues ?

The Viper is not having the same issues the Nytro had, they're far worse, in fact low oil pressure may even be a problem in steep climbs. I had the front end stood up during a steep pull and the motor completely cut out with a light flashing on the instrument cluster. This was prior to any noticeable loss of oil. This problem needs to be addressed whether it's by Yamaha, MPI or both.

I had the Nytro. No real issues with oil. It would spill some when I put it on its side, but very little with no negative effects.

This Viper I now bought has a big issue. The difference also is that I put the MPI turbo on it. In my opinion this oil problem should have been addressed before Yamaha/MPI teamed up.

I have roughly 100 miles on and 3 rides. The only oil I lost was when the sled was completely upside down...and even then it was minimal.

Maybe I've been lucky?

Oil leaking

Yo, 2015 viper mtx se mpi stage 1.
Losing oil every ride I have to tip sled aggressively.
Huge plume of smoke pours out the exhaust after routed to inter cooler when tipped. Waiting to see if chazwildmans fix works this week, then doing same to mine.

I could not find the info in my users manual, when checking the oil do you screw the dip stick all the way in?

Matt@mpi, is it possible to re-install the seperator backwards during turbo install? (How it sits behind clutch cover therefore causing top hoses to be backwards)
