2015 T3 production changes

Dealers alway buy a supply of snow checks using the names of there family and friends. Heck I used to buy 6 each year sell 5 for a profit of $500.00 each and with the profits I would buy all my mod parts.

From what I've been told, brp makes this a lot tougher now. No extended financing to the dealers on snowchecks. Payment in full required 2 weeks after delivery. So unless the dealer has the cheddar to pay in full, you won't be seeing tons on snowchecks available on the floor. If its a legitimate back out, other than losing your deposit, I'm not sure of the process.

Good post.
I am not sure on flooring (if they do flooring at all on snowchecks), but I thought that with Poo it is 45 days from delivery to dealership for Polaris/similar with Skidoo until flooring, and that is why dealers are pretty strict on making customers pick up and pay for their sleds as soon as they get to the dealership? Maybe it is 45 days until the machine has to be paid in full, that makes a LOT more sense.

In the western states BRP never ships the larger dealers all there sleds at once. Last season my Idaho dealer had 3 shipments spread out over 60 days.

In the end, the snowcheck process makes sense, BRP wants to know how many sleds to build, the dealers want to presell as many sleds as possible in order to meet BRP's volume demands on them, having extra snowchecks on the floor takes away from normal sled sales, and it discourages customers from committing to new sleds in the spring. If we all knew we could get a snowcheck only model every year, who would throw down $500 in the spring to secure one? The positive for dealers is that they can get full retail for every extra snowcheck. The negative, as posted, is that the dealer has to pay cash to have it.

They usually trickle in. I think snowchecks come in roughly in order of when they were submitted. I like to wait until the deadline to get my sled later in the year, as a new sled on a dry driveway just leads to frustration. :)
My dealer actually told me roughly the dates and order in which my sleds were going to arrive. (600XRS last, which makes no sense, as the roads are going to ridable before the mountains.)
Or we could be riding Poos. Dealer is expecting 15 Polaris rigs this month. But of course, they were built two years ago and just had the build dates on the tunnels changed. :) :) :)

Last year Polaris really screwed over there snow check fan base when they were offering huge dealer rebates mid-season which in turn dropped the price of Pro RMK 162's down to 10,250 otd. That also hurt Doo sales which had a hard time competing with the low ball pricing of the Pro RMK.

On the other hand AC Proclimb M8 did very well with there sales and many mountain state dealers reported record sales. I just bought a new holdover 14 proclimb limited 162 for 10,800 otd.

For sure. 30:1 Doo to Poo snowchecks this year. No reason to check a Pro when you know you will be able to buy them for 10K this fall, most dealers have a ton of 14 leftovers and Polaris forces dealers to take certain amounts, so there are going to be a ton of unsold 15s out there.

I agree completely no reason to buy a 2015 RMK when there are so many 2014's..The same goes for Doo unless you have to have a 174.

One thing that's caught my interest is that BRP claims in the letter that they still are producing the sleds at the advertised weight (174T3weight = 163 2.5"weight and 163T3weight = 154 2.5"weight). In the aforementioned letter it states:

Q2: How has BRP achieved the weight if a heavier muffler is used?

A2: Our weight reduction program was a success and we have in fact exceeded our weight goal. The sleds now weigh less than we originally published.

This margin allowed us to switch back to the standard muffler used on all summit models. As a result we made good on our weight saving promise while continuing to meet regulations.

So what other parts did they produce lightweight that are going to make up for the 5 lbs gain in the muffler? I really hope it's a shorter heat exchanger to keep all the snow from sticking to the back of the tunnel.

That's interesting, I skimmed that and didn't really read it I guess. Unless they managed to loose weight from proto to production, it kinda sounds like more bs to me. As proud as they were of that lighter can, you would think they would have bragged about other lightweight stuff that equals the same amount of weight loss as the can to begin with.

X2, When you read this there is a glaring omission. Tell us more about this weight loss program.

Yep. The only reason I buy new Doos every year is I did the math, and putting 2500miles on two or three sleds means I loose less in resale than putting all those miles on one and then selling it. I have a friend who bought a 2010 XP, if he sold it now it would have cost him like $8-$10 per mile to ride it. And he didn't get to ride new stuff every year.

Well got my letter in the mail today from ski-doo saying no light weight exhaust or track, but the sled is amazingly the same weight as they said it would be because they exceeded their previous expectations.......Bull S%&T. In the world of moutain sleds, if a manufacturer can save even 1 pound on a sled they use that to down play the opposition big time.....so they keep this large weight savings quiet until now....again I call.... BS. In my opinion they have brought themselves down to the same level as any salesman and politition....say what you have to too make a sale or get elected, then do whatever you want after the fact. I have been a ski-doo owner since 1987, and I say that their integgrety rating just went from a 10 to 4. Yes Iam still going to take my new sled because unlike Ski-doo, salesman and polititions, when I commit to something I actually keep my word. Very VERY sad and dissappointing on their part....IMHO

Shoot, no attempt to keep customers happy? Bummer.
You could have not worded it better my man, exactly how I feel about it. Would I have still checked one if it didn't have these upgrades to begin with? Yes, but this way of doing business is shady, and, well, you worded it better than I could have.
I always thought that as a manufacturer, Skidoo was on top with their technology and way of doing business (among other things), but this does hurt their reputation in my eyes, and the fact that they think (or are lieing to make us think that they think) that they still delivered what they promised is very very wrong. Like you said, weight loss is ALWAYS bragged about, they don't hold anything back for later.

My guess is you will see the lightweight track and muffler next year so they can report another weight loss. Not much room for bragging this year as everyone had already ordered their T3's. Drop that weight next year and get more people to snow check them. Makes perfect sense to me, but is it good for those who ordered this year? No probably not.

There is probably grounds for a lawsuit if we get enough snowcheckers willing to sign. It would send a message, Skidoo is low-balling us and thinks we are stupid. We have choices, we could make it hurt if we got out of our snowchecks, getting or money back. It would screw the dealers as much as skidoo though is the bad part. Time and time again it feels like skidoo doesn't give a "hoot" about us. Is it time to go to Artic Cat who is just coming out of a humiliating corporate experience, where it feels like Skidoo and Polaris are just getting started.....WTF people pull your head out, (how does that translate into french?).

still a sick stock sled, but disappointed that ski-doo isn't coming through with all they promised at the time I put my $ down to reserve one...

this is my first doo, and not getting the best first initial impressions with them

sooo.. let me get this right haven't seen a letter anywhere just by hearsay. No pull start just electric star?, less porting in track?, no new can (unless you pay for it.)?. anything else?. I ordered a new 174 and just want a heads up of whats expected on arrival.:mad2:
