2014 polaris

Seems they have done something, but we probably won't hear exactly what. That was expected. An improved quickdrive was a must with all the issues they ran into, especially on the high heat/horsepower turbo sleds. The failures seem to be more related to heat than horsepower or shock load.

I was expecting the color choices and wraps. Looks like we get the choice of a better rear bumper and possibly a better front bumper too. If anyone expected big change this year, they're fools. They just introduce a new drive system into mass production a year ago and everyone expects more brand new tech. Stupid. I'm really sick of hearing how stupid people who were pissed about the quickdrive not having enough test time are already expecting something brand new this year again. Take a midol and ride your sleds. good lord

I like the Facebook comments. Stupid kids that couldn't afford a new sled " no turbo, wtf" "goodbye polaris, going to doo" "same old junk" then you look at their profile pic and they have a 95 formula haha

I think I said something to the effect of new graphics and powder coating for the new '14s. Where are all you guys that heard from reliable sources that a factory turbo or a new engine were in the works? I guess knowing people that actually work in Roseau means nothing, huh? And have we forgotten that the '12s were basically '11s with new graphics? Some of you need to get off of your soap boxes and realize that this year was for refinement. Want a new sled every year? switch brands. Quit complaining about and talking down sleds that are already amazing. Go buy a new YamaCat if you internet preachers want something to complain about again next year all season long here on SnoWest. I think Polaris made a smart move this year, and I'm keeping my 13. Lots of leftover '14s for when everyone gets scared of the new sleds in '15

Its nice to see someone else on here that doesn't bitch about a new motor, all I can say is I am going '14, you guys bitching about these new sleds aren't going to scare me away, hell I rode a 2000 mtn max for the last 11 yrs. It was amazing that I read about the new belt drive system breaking/failure in October and November and this so called drive shaft failure in November, hey LADIES, what the hell you doing riding your sled on asphalt or dirt to have these issues going on, if I recall we had no snow in October and November!!!!

I thought the exact same thing!

Anyone else's first impression of the graphics that they are similar to the 02/03 RMKs?

I wasn't expecting a new engine, turbo, or a new chassis. I was just expecting to hear about refinements to the sled. Maybe different pistons or something to fix the drive belt issue. But doesn't look to be that way. My prediction ski doo sales will rise polaris will stay the same or decrease.

I think your right on track.

Refine, refine, refine. They have something good that just needs to be made a little better in the lines of reliability and longevity.

Quick drive complaints are well deserved. Three rides in a row we had one belt blow, then bottom pulley belt broke along with clutch side bearing failure on separate sled. After this on a blue bird day another belt failure and while changing out belt bottom bolt snapped off with 1 lb of pressure. All sleds are stock and less than 600 miles. Sorry but breaking down on every ride is more than enough for a bitch fest about the drive. Not to mention you can't get these sleds out of the back country on broken cogs. Trail absolutely but who rides on the trail on a mountain sled?

In the specs it says extruded shaft which is what it said on my '11

Nice. So they went back to the old driveshaft and old a-arms. I bet whoever made the call to go with glue-together suspension and driveline components is looking for work. :face-icon-small-dis

now offer a chaincase as the high performance option and were all set ....:face-icon-small-coo, keepin my turbo 2011 for another year at least

Boeing will hire him.

The '13 is the extruded shaft, the '06-'12 are hydro formed. My guess is same shaft as the '13's, hopefully with better quality control during production.

WinterBrew...

Why do you think they went back to the old A-Arms?

If they are claiming 417 pounds just like last year wouldn't that suggest they are using the glued A-Arms this year as well?

Plus, in the pictures I've seen it looks like the same A-Arms as my 2013...

Just curious...

To the guys jumping ship to Doo, you also must frequent the BBW sites too because it is obvious that you like your rides overweight with a lot of makeup on (T-Motion and Flex Track). Anyway you cut it, a fat girl is a fat girl. I will take the slim ride, thank you very much!

FYI: They did not go back to the old A-Arms or the old driveshaft as far as I can tell from the Polaris web site information. The lower A-Arms look identical to the 13 A-Arms.

We had three guys at the reveal last night. Same A-Arms as 2013, and same drive shaft. Improvements to the QD system are things that most people will not notice by looking at it. The belt will now take heat better, to which we attribute to a new compound. Small refining changes, exactly what we were looking for.

You would think they would be promoting these changes a little bit...unless they don't want to admit to making a mistake with the '13.

from another thread I asked in:

Do any of the new Poo 800s come with a direct injected 160+ HP motor b/c having an 11 SBA 144 and a 13 RMK Pro 155 that would be something to look at...but I don't see/hear anything on that...despite a buddy being told at the Poo Snodeo he was just at this past weekendt in NH...

Do the 14 PRO RMKs still have Carbon Fiber (breakining left and right on people all year) over structurs, Glued A-Arms and Driveshafts that also went down for the count often this year?

Is the QD belt still unprotected underneath, and still with no CMX style tensioner and it seems in this thread that the belt is different....
