Just wondering how the 2012 nytros are being liked and how they compare with the others, and how the 180 hp turbo kits are running and if they are maintenance free?

Loving my 12 mcx 270 no sled issues that I haven't caused.. My dad liked it so much I switched him over 2 a nytro from cat he bought a 11 with the 180 turbo and has no issues so far except his hyfax which seems to be a problem but nothing some scratchers can't fix.

If your serious about going yamaha I will be home again for Easter and have a extra sled you could try both sleds.

Outlaw motorsports built both sleds and there service is top notch.

Pm me if you want a demo or have anymore questions

I bought my 11 Nytro from Outlaw as well, and they have been awesome.

I had Hyfax issues even with the scratchers early on, wearing on the right side in just one spot mainly, but I had Outlaw put on a set of Hyperfaxes, and they still look brand new with over 400 miles on them this season so far.

i have a 2012 mtx 153. it is my first nytro i have ridden. i love it, but there are some things im changing. it is getting a skinz front end, it just doesnt handle very well. it is getting an mcx 180 kit, it has good torque, but in the mountains less than 100 horse doesnt cut it. get better boards or something like them. oft relocater is a must have. i have also seen some hifax wear from stock. overall i am happy with the machine, but it is taking me some money to get it to where i want it.

from stock imo must haves are rollover valve and oft relocater, wouldnt go without them. the other stuff isnt needed.

Here are a couple of links -

I got mine from Outlaw, as they had them in stock. Michelle at Oregon Trail Sports can get them/has them as well.

Outlaw also makes their own Steering post relocator that I had them install, and that made a major difference for me being able to lay the sled on its side. Their relocator is only $45 too, at least thats what I paid for it.

That is the problem with the yami's it always takes money to get them really work well. Wasn't bad when a set of pipes and clutching would make them shine against the competition but now it takes a whole lot more $$$$ I have had yamis since 87 but too am getting frustrated at the money needed to pour into them .02

I have a 2012 with the MPI 180 Turbo and a few other mods. I put on 400 trouble free miles this year - the only issue I have had is that I think I have a slightly bent SKINZ steering arm on the right side (probably my fault, I don't remember hitting anything that hard, but I must have...)

The 180 kits are a nice setup for general mountain riding IMO - I love the power it is just right for the riding I typically do. The Ascent track has performed well for me so far and has held up great. I would do it all over again if I had to, I just wish that my snow check would have included more snow to ride on :)

My sled set up:
2012 MTX 162
MPI 180 Turbo
Skinz Concept Front Suspension
Skinz Air Frame Boards
OFT Steering relocator
Rotopax 2 gallon gas & 2 gallon dry storage (tail light relocated)
Boost gauge
Hyperfax

this is my first yamaha, and id rather not add up the amount of money i put into it this year :face-icon-small-con if i cant see it, it didnt happen right?

Is the 180 kit worth getting with the snowcheck deal, and how does it compare to a 800 2-stroke?

The 180 kit is well worth it IMO, I did the snow check deal last season. You can also find some great deals on slightly used sleds with the 180 kits if you keep an eye out, if you want to go that route.

As far as comparisons to the 800 2 strokes - obviously the 180 kit makes more power, especially at altitude. But the 800's are a lot lighter. My preference is to go with the 180 and deal with the weight.

Any good dealer should be able to get you a test ride. My dealer sent me up on the mountain with a 180 push kit two years ago, that is what sold me on doing the snow check on my 2012. Ride both and decide what you want. These toys cost way too much money not to test ride before buying IMO.

I'm bias because Im addicted to boost:) my dad going from a rev to 11 m8 says it rides like the rev rider forward.

The snow check deal is good not much has changed that's why my dad went with the 11 180 he got 4 years of warranty for $200 and o for two finance.

I would give outlaw a call 54142634nine one talk to Dustin they may still have a couple demos going on this year and like I said I will be home for 6 days for Easter if you want to make a run up to the blues

I LOVE MY MPI 180. WAY MORE POWER AND ACCELERATION THAN ANY 800 I'VE HAD. YAMAHA DEAL ENDS MARCH 31, ZERO DOWN, ZERO FINANCE FOR TWO YEARS, 2-YEAR FREE WARRANTR, $300 FOR 5-YEARS. 15K FOR A 2011. CALL DUSTIN AT OUTLAW. YOU WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED.

Is there just normal maintenance or do you have to tinker with them a little? I had a 08 nytro and loved the reliability, but it was lacking a little in the power department and ability to climb. Heard the 2010 and up nytros are quite a bit better, thinking about going back to a nytro and wanting a little more power as long as reliability is not sacrificed.
