It has snowed a foot of fresh in downtown Chetwynd in the last couple of days. Powder King shows substantial amounts of snowfall in the last week. Should be getting good out there!
I received this email from Xstrata Coal regarding sledders on the Hasler Road. We are trying to work co-operatively with these guys. They are active on the Boulder road, right where the Hasler parking lot was. We need to ensure that sledders are not causing issues with these guys. We cannot control road users, but we can recommend best practises when travelling with industrial road users. Please try to use VHF radios when possible. 0-9 kms on the Westcoast Rd, use channel RR-19A. 9-45 kms on the Hasler Rd use RR-13A. Please group up when possible, and clear the road for industrial traffic coming out. We do not want any incidents with other road users.
Spread the word, let all fellow sledders know about this issue. Thanks for making it safe for all!
Hi Sheldon,
With the recent snow fall and cold weather, we are getting lots of sledding activity at the end of the Hasler Road. I’d like to sit down with you, or your group as soon as possible to discuss how to safely interact. Yesterday, there were a few interactions between recreational vehicles and our workers that we don’t want to continue. Can you let me know when we could pull this off.
We need to work cooperatively, and make sure that everybody can travel safely on the roads. I need to ensure the recreational vehicles are aware of industrial activities and associated hazards.
Thanks Sheldon,
Dayton
