They sound to be quite impressive right out of the box. I can't believe how much of a hurting they have been putting on Fords new 6.7 with all the hype of the 6.7. Poor Ford still can't get it right, still playing catch up to the Dmax after 10 years now. Guess they'll have to build a whole new motor again next year

I didnt mean to start a brand war ,but meant just ask about the 2011 model and what people thought of it maybe some had a 2007 or newer and traded up to it might chime in .Ive had ford ,chevy and gmc all brands make good trucks. Hope everybody has a great thankgiving day !!!
I really get sick of the brand war BS especially from Ford guys who use Ford's overall dominance of the market as reasoning for ford diesels being better than others. Ford will never have any kind of legendary diesel truck. I'm no Ford expert, but how many different motors have they gone through now? And then you've got GM and the 6.6L diesel motor that they have been using since 2001, obviously it changes a little from year to year but thats just progression, taking something great and making it better. Now, lets not forget the Dodge diesels. They stuck the 5.9L Cummins straight-six motor in those trucks for almost 18 full years in several different setups (natural progression). 2007.5 they come out with the 6.7L Cummins and that motor (like all the new emissions controlled motors) can really rip with a few mods, and it's great to begin with. Not to mention they have the best factory built exhaust brake on a pickup. Ford will never be assosiated with long term drivability and reliability when it comes to diesels. I dont care what you bring to the argument here, there is just no way the Ford diesel truck program will ever have bragging rights like GM or Dodge
Ohhh and I almost forgot, do you see tons of guys going out and jamming 7.3 powerjokes in older body style GM or Dodge pickups? not so much. Im sure its been done but its not common like shoe-horning a 5.9 into an old style Ford, or any ford for that matter.
I am a Ford guy at heart, and I cant argue with your statement. I havent had the the chance to own a cummins yet...I cant wait for the day to have one. With that being said I have owned 2 6.0L powerstrokes well over 100k miles and had minor issues at that. Granted 120K is not a lot of miles for a diesel but thats all I can say I owned it for. The rest of the truck had no issues. Now my 2 duramaxs I had one had 140K and the other 190K. Both of them went through transfer cases ($1000), Rebuilt both allisons, Rear axle seals on both, water pumps on both, and constantly having issues with idler arms and pitman arms getting sloppy. The Duramax is a BA motor, but the rest of the truck is CRAP. I think Ford will have a good motor with the 6.7L though. I loved my 6.4L but the fuel economy was not good, even with a spartan 275 tune.
