I am going to look at and possibly purchase a used 2011 assault RMK today. I have heard lots of things regarding the track and I am not sure what to do. My family sold all their sleds before I went to college and now I have graduated with my degree I am looking to get a sled again.
Back on topic, I will be riding the sled mostly around the Tahoe area and up at Mammoth, CA. For the most part I don't tend to get awesome powder days. The snow is usually very wet and heavy when there is powder. I am thinking that the stock track might be ok for this, but at the same time I have heard a lot of bad things about it. I have not been riding for about 6 years so I wouldn't really be able to tell if I was missing out with the stock track or not and that is why I am asking this question. Since I presume most would tell me to go try it out first.
If the conciseness is to change the track. Is this something I can do, I have tried to do some searching but have not really found any guides or instructions on how to do this. Do you need any special tools to get the track tension set up correctly? Will most dealers do a track change, any idea on what they charge?
It looks like I can pick up a 5.1 series track or a camoplast xtreme track for pretty cheap.
Thanks for the help, all input is greatly appreciated!
