2010 Forum Ride, Let's vote and get this show on the road!!!!

Where do you want to hold the 2010 forum ride???

It did seem a bit difficult to get the kinds of numbers that the front range rides get when there was a competing event occurring at the same time. While there probably exists valid reasons to get folks together, it kind of undermines the efforts of people who organize a specific event.

I hope you're not referring to what was dub'd the Misfit's ride? I will reiterate what I said in the earlier post. I could not go
to Gunni that year, I decided to go to R.E.. I admitted, It was stupid to have posted about it and it was in NO WAY an attempt to take away from the 4M ride that my good friend and neighbor Chad had assembled. Other people who couldn't go, like Paul (if you do your research, he blew 3 engines that year and ran out of coin), made the same decision I did and went to R.E. It turns out, so did about 50 other people. I apologize for making that post but there was NO competing event. People got ticked that NoCo riders didn't come to their back yard in Gunni. I'm pretty sure these same people didn't go to SLO last year either. As I stated in a previous post, a BUNCH of folks couldn't ride down there, who rode R.E. instead, donated or bought raffle tix.

I had to cancel for reasons that are none of your business
Ralph had to cancel because of personal reason
Paul had to cancel for his sled problems
Dave had a meeting in steamboat that weekend and thought he would just drop in.
Jr came with Ralph
Kyle came with me
Paul's following gathered with him
Before you know it, it was large.

Nobody was competing with the Gunni 4M ride!

Yamahamammer, now tell us how you really feel?!

Nobody is torqued off at you - chill out! It's all good.
It's more that we're simply impressed with your "Community Organizing" skills and a bit jealous!
I almost ditched the CB ride myself and came up after hearing all of the excitement surrounding the "misfits!"
Trust me, being stuck down here riding around CB gets old.

;-)

But the 2 ride thing may make sense since your example probably proves a point that not everyone around Denver can travel beyond Rabbit Ears/Vail Pass for these outlying rides; let's just do them on different weekends.

One place we might consider is basing the ride out of Carbondale/Aspen - since they are the target of the Hidden Gem's Wilderness campaign (Gunnison/CB is too). Showing a pretty good bunch of enclosed trailers on main street in Aspen probably wouldn't hurt their efforts up there!!

Farmer? Live2ride? Could this event be helpful?

WTF! is that a prancing seal Mike?

Ah well, maybe a Hahns Peak Hoe-Down in March?:D

Congrats, and do it up good CB boyz! Can't wait to see Troy again:face-icon-small-win I proudly wear my hard won T-shirt everyday:cool:

What's the chance of getting several vaca homes near the trailhead or maybe squat at the Irwin Lodge. Ha! We're a pretty tight group and could probably make it work. I can think of about 100 peeps I wouldn't mind roomin with for a couple days:D Last ride there I checked into it a bit and looks like it might be possible. Lots of humongous luxo vaca chalets in that area, and some it looks like you could ride from. Cost isn't bad if you fill all the beds. I'll check VRBO, just to see If that's possible. Almont looks good too, but I bet CB could provide us with some awesome lodging this go-round.

I have a friend who runs CB Vacations - the lodging outfit for the ski area.
If you want condos/homes, I'm sure we could find a few no problem; the only issue becomes parking as most are up at the ski area. You could probably do a few vaca homes in the downtown without too much trouble though.

Another option would be the OldTown Inn which is right in town, and it's where many of the dirt-bike/adventure rider groups stay in the summer and had good parking. The CB Hostel is another option; it's cheap, nice and has a huge open kitchen and couch/TV area - and Ward the owner is very sled friendly.

Lots of options.

And, I'm sure we can arrange a date for Bushy & Alrevedup. ;-)

Wherever you decide to hold it, I'll try to make it again this year. All of those places are pretty darn good.

didn't you kinda destroy your first brand new sled in the Irwin/Gunni area last season? Then you whacked your SECOND brand new sled at the Forum ride?

Speaking of parking, Why is parking in CB so @#$%^& up ?

You need a calculator and calender to figure out which side of the block to park on............if you can find anything ?

Sorry rant over

RP - one simple reason. It's a revenue generating tool.

Some claim it's for snow removal, but our wonderful Town Council drafted a "snowbank management plan" that conflicts with the parking signs and the town sucks at snow removal anyways. They make the merchants pay "parking in lieu fees" at $10,000 a crack, but have never purchased land in town for additional parking. Gotsta love gov't!
