I have a 10 800 dragon with slp exhaust and intake and a power commander 5
Its running great and i love the sled
I just wanted to let some people know they do run.

Now my question
What are peoples thoughts on SLP Powder Pros on the IQ?

I agree, save your money. I think you will be happier with the grippers than the SLP Powder Pro's. I had Pow Pro's on a 06 then went to the Gripper's and was much happier.

Why? What do you like better about them? I have PPs on my '05 900 and would really like to know.

True, but not everyone can afford to take the bath on getting rid of it. I'm not disagreeing with your view. Many people buy new to have the warranty and the piece of mind that is supposed to come with that warranty. Many people have to finance their sleds and could be in backwards on trading it in, so their expecting Polaris to fix it. Some may not have the money for the sled to become the back up, not running right sled and purchase another one, hoping the problems get solved.

As for the PC5, yes agree 100% that if you're not turbo'd or have a Carls BB or properly ported motor with the proper Carls ECM flash, that a PC5 is the best thing you could do to your 800. Unfortunately some can't handle hearing SLP has a good map that works well with the original 2010 Polaris map without being offended.

It is good to hear anything positive on this 4M. So many people complain and I have to wonder after all of these years of reading threads....if it is rider error, lack of ability to set their sled up or some other issue.

Anyway, my D8 rips and the only issue I have seen is the temp sensor going south. They are $145 to replace if you are not under warranty. Truth is my sled runs so good that I'm thinking of waiting on the Pro R sled and running my D8 next year. I think a guy could get a great deal on a D8 because of people selling for the new Pro RMK sled.

The grippers work well, don't bother buying another set of skis.

Same here, I have put over 5000 miles on an 08 and 09 800 dragons. They have never been towed out or limped out period, they have always run great. I do feel for those that do have runability problems, let alone melt downs. I do know of two different fellas that had several piston melt downs on the 800's, one fella had two engine failures due to belt threads piled up on crank between clutch and tin shield, he aparently removed the thread but it had already baked the crank seal. The other fella had three 800 engine failures and the fourth failure was on a loaner,(700 RMK) on second day out the motor seized. He topped the oil tank that morning with what ever brand of oil he was using at the time. It appeared to be the oil as he switched back to polaris gold and it has been a full year now without any problems what so ever.

I see we have somehyjacking going on. I love the Powder Pros. The place where I most notice the diff between the 2 is on a trail with a few inches of fresh snow or a beat up trail. Some of my fav kind of riding is on a bumpy trail with a little freshy on it. The aggressive keel digs and turns where the Poo ski will push. I also believe that they will hold a sidehill a little better. Are they worth the 4 -500$ over the grippers?..... that depends on what your priorities consist of. Last year when BIZ was good I bought a pair. Right now... the grippers would be just fine.

I've got both powder pros, stock grippers 4" wear bar, and grippers with a 6" wear bar and move them back and forth on the same sled. They all have slightly different trail ride characteristics. More time then not my favorite is the stock gripper with the 6" woodies carbides. On certain trails and with my personal setup (obviously your ski pressures and alignments can make things different) the powder pro's want to track a rut and require more management to run. On the other hand if you are needing ski pressure to turn or handle like in a hillclimb gate race or high speed trail race situation the PP's shine.

Everyday free riding on a polaris iq raw I'd say the grippers average really good and would spend my money on another aspect of this sled or on beer and hookers.

BEER AND HOOKERS IT IS

I have a pair of each and if I were buying again I'd buy the grippers. Great skis, way cheaper, very similar performance wise. Also the PPs can get a little headshake in some conditions. As for the engine problems, I love my 08 dragon but it's on its second crank, cases, cyl. head, CDI, volt reg, third set of pistons (awaiting 4th set and new head), all in just 1200 miles! I now have faith in her as I bought a PCV and she has been running trouble free and strong this season.
It's running so good I told my dealer to hold off till may on my 2010 update. Also Polaris has taken good care of all warranty claims.
