2010/2011 Greystokes

went for a ride on some logging roads and trails just below big white village today, probably about 2 feet on the ground at that elevation.. lots of it fresh powder with a nice solid base layer underneath which i didnt check the depth of..

2' almost everywhere. A bit more up top. Creeks are still open. Care was needed when exploring. Trail in was a workout. No casualities, sled ran like a top. Still need 1 more good dump.

any more pics? It has been snowing non stop around here it must be getting pretty sweet up there! I can't wait to get a ride in!!!!

went up to the stokes for the first ride. Not bad. lakes and creeks not quit frozen.there are rock and stumps just under the surface so you have to be careful, other than that pretty good for first run. Approx22-24 inches and its all soft powder no base, ride with caution, but ride.

keep posting pics as you guys ride! I really want to get out there and try my new 2011!!! I just can't for another week or 2

was up today. 90cm's from the same spot in the above probed photo. Almost all the creeks have now frozen. Lakes are not to be trusted, still slushy on top. This is the time to watch out, everything is covered but definatly not safe.

There was a rumor of a sled left on the mtn, possibly due to injury. Hopefully everyone is safe and it was minor.

went up for another ride there was alittle more powder. still have to watch out for stumps and rocks. Took fishawk and some of the meadows were quite deep it made for a good early season ride. Had to giver across lakes but mostly rode the perimeter. Came up the back of jubilee. No carnage. Gonna get more snow this week. Gets nothing but better from here. :face-icon-small-coo

is anyone going up this wed or thurs?
I wanna get my new machine broken in but none of the people I ride with are going out yet.

Never rode area before.. would like to make trip to greystokes.. Are there cabins in area possibly available for rental? If not how close is Greystokes to Big white? Any other info/suggestion would be greatly appricated... Would be looking for a cabin for 8-10 adults + probably 3-4 small chidren... Hoping to be within 30 mins of staging area..

Thanks in advance

Greystokes is very close to Big white. approx 25 to 30 min. you can ride from the stokes very close to big white legally via the 201. branch of a bit and ride right through. there are a couple of main cabins that are easily acessible and comfortable. dont see a problem staying in them, people are usually on there way back to the parking lot before 4oclock. You can always ask the kelowna snowmobile club. They have many contacts.

You can get closer to big white than the 201. Trail 103 loops around the backside of the resort and pops out just below happy valley. Check out kelowna snowmobile club website for the updated traimap.

The Kelowna snowmobile club has two cabins. I am pretty sure if you are a member it isnt a problem staying there amenities are slim no beds etc.
