Sorry to hear your having trouble.

Looking forward to hearing what BDX has to say. Be sure to ask them about the angular misalignment problems, and get them to clarify where they are taking material off of the track shaft please. :D

Ok i printed off what you said and ill hand it to them.

We will have to see what they do. The back side of the transfer gear is all f***ed up, the bearing on the case side separated and ceased into the case. I cant get it out. It looks like the cover was to tight and it rubbed on the gear. Tons of shavings.
No pics till i see what BDX wants to do.

OK guys here you go.

If you put your cover on and it didn't fit right your going to have the same problems as me. Have your track shaft machined. They took material off the brake rotor side.

I have two big trip in February so i thought i would take a look at the DD. Well it wasn't good. First the transfer gear stuck in the cover and i had to use a screw driver to pry it off. The case was full of shavings. I called BDX and they said they wanted to see it. They are 1hr 15 minutes south of me so i decided to take a drive. When he looked at he said did you bring your track shaft? I said NO. Well go get it as we need to machine it. Off i went home with the brake nut tool. 3 hrs later I'm back with the track shaft and they cut it down/ took off 45 thousandths. Well they also talk me into new DD lite gears as they have heard of the factory cat ones (2 piece) with the welds break. So a tank of fuel, 8 hrs of f***ing around, $304 worth of parts the sled is back in order. Thanks alot ARCTIC CAT....

here are some pics.

I got one of the guys to tell me what that oil is. I called my AMSOIL tech line and it is the same thing as AMSOIL chain case oil, click here. Its no special oil, a straight 5w 100% synthetic oil. They did say do not use ATF in the DD. If anyone needs AMSOIL chain case oil let me know, and Ill get it out to ya. Comes in 12oz bottles, or a case of 6. You get 72oz of AMSOIL for the price of one 15oz bottle of BDX oil shipped to you.

thanks!

No more excuses to talk to my dealer

Just broke 300 miles on my 09 and decided to change the fluid and check the bearing, and bigger than sh!t, metal chunks and a failed bearing. Talked to my dealer just now, and even the parts guy knows about this bearing failure problem. So I'm taking it in on monday. I would like them to get in contact with the guys at BD so they can fill them in on the proper fix for this problem.

layed sled over on side and pulled off cover, looks good, will check again in about another 400 or end of season. RickM

Hi there. Free members can't read this thread anymore, even though we can post to it.

Considering the safety and expensive repercussions of this problem, please consider adding any new info into a new thread. Thank you.

I was told that Arctic cat put a cheap bearing in that was made in China and this should be replaced with a bearing made in USA or even a Japan made bearing. Is there any truth to this?

i dont if this has been posted on here yet but when i ordered my upgraded bearing from bdx i was told you didnt need a new gasket and to just use silicone to make a new gasket. with hesitatinon and the ok from cat dealer i did it 800 miles later started to a funny noise. now bdx is saying you need a gasket to get the right clearance on the bearings that sit in the case. not blaming anyone just want everyone to be aware of it

another one bites the dust.

checked my bearing at 370 miles :face-icon-small-fro and yeah the small bearing was ****ed. it still spun smooth but the seal was out with the bearing cage broken. this is on a '09 m1 with again only 370 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!! :face-icon-small-fro no ****ing good! only could replace with another single row cause thats all i could get in town. plus if i have to machine the double row is no good to be anyway right now. if it lasts another 300 miles that will get me thru winter. piss with it in the off season.

4203 double row bearing has dimensions 17x40x16 mm. Could that solve cover fitting problems? If 6203 with spacer is 15,91 mm wide, 4203 is pretty close.

I haven't open my dd yet, 1100 miles behind and i'm second owner.
Big surprise waiting, or after reading this thread it's not surprise anymore :D
