One more thought...compression check wouldn't hurt. A leak down is better but checking compression is easy, don't know what sea level should be (135#'s+) but important that both sides are the same.
If you can talk to the previous owner that would be a good idea to see if this is a new problem?

I did mean crank indexing, perhaps when the failure occurred the crank was thrown out.

OK .. yesterday i have put 58g on and 7900 on hard pack and 8500 on floffy snow..WTF!

After investigation from dealer...engine was shot on the PTO side.
