2008 RMK 600 CFI clutching issue.

Hello,

i have purchase a used 08 RMK 600 cfi. The engine have 0 miles because the dealer have do a rebuild for X reason.

I run at sea level and according to the Shop manual i shoul'd use 10-64 ramp but i have put 10-62 because i have a set on hand. The ramp are new and the clutch have been cleaned and checked.

The problem i have is i can't get the RPM higher than 7600 rpm..... l'm far away from what i need... i dont' understand why it is so much far... 8100-8200 ok but 7600 .. look like a power lack problem..

What are you think about that?

first I'd check; too much oil in fuel, crappy fuel, exhaust valve solenoid hoses(would have to be cracked or otherwise disconnected between the valve bodies and solenoid) , pipe temp sensor, Ethanol wires are plugged in/unplugged dependant on fuel, the crank could be out of phase.
Take it back to where you bought it if it isn't something simple.

I have a service manual and it says 10-62's for sea level. You could also have a sacked or broken primary spring, it should be black/green.

Sounds like a bellows is torn. Remove the 4 bolts on the valve housing and check it out.

I have put out the 2 exhaust valve and inspect everything. No leak, no worn bellows...but there something strange, the spring is not the purple but an orange spring rated at 5.5 lbs instead of the purple 3.1 lbs...

The purple spring is in same problem. I have plug the 2 hoses from the valve same problem.. i have no more idea now........

I would throw in a set of 10-60s in the primary. It sounds like you have eliminated most everthing else. Maybe its just not going to pull the 62's. My 600 wouldn't pull the 58's that slp reccomended for my elevation so I had to drop to 56's

Try changing your primary spring, I couldn't pull rpms in my 800 mod due to a black/green spring that was sacked out. I changed my spring to an almond 120/330 and it pulled straight to 8350 no problem. Took me a while to figure this one out...

Yes it's true my original spring can be sagged too.. i will try another one

1. No one has mentioned the TPS sensor. It's not unusual for them to be set wrong after a rebuild. The dealer is supposed to set it using Digital Wrench but I've heard of several smaller dealers that don't set them. It's also possible that the TPS is bad, that can be checked with DR too.
2. Might inquire as to what made it go down needing a rebuild. Maybe issue didn't get fixed?
3. Exhaust canisters-some 08's had a baffle come loose partially plugging the outlet.

Sounds like you are down on power, the dealer has the tools (Digital Wrench) to check the electronics.

Thank Ron, for the canister i have a SLP can i think this possibility is eliminated. TPS can be the problem. i will take a look on that with the dealer.

The RMK will be at the dealer monday for an investigation.

I will let you know what happen
