2007/2008 M1000 update clarification

let me clarify about the Cat Care warranty part of it. If you bring your sled in for a repair during Cat Care and it has outstanding recalls your dealer would have to complete the recalls first and file the claims before getting autho on the Cat Care claim. Cat Care will not pay your dealer without them being done. It is just part of their system. If you have a sled requiring a reflash and it has Cat Care your dealer would have to use the tools perform the update which uploads the info to Cat automatically or they won't be able to get paid for any extended warranty work. So if you had a DD failure and the ECU update had not been done your dealer would have to do any recall work before he could get autho on the DD repair.

That is crap.

Only a retarded dealer would do that. My dealer has done warrenty on chassis components when my sled was in with twin pipes, intake, etc. Blaiming cat for a dealer that sux is stupid. I am pretty sure there are laws about denying warrenty claims on unrelated parts on the basis of modifications.

Now, if you seize your DD on your turbo M8, I think you are foolish to expect Cat to pay for it!

I was just trying to explain how the Cat Care system works. I actually had a customer with an 07 who did not want the reflash but he reluctantly let us do it. His DD had failed and we could not get autho until we did all three outstanding updates first. We would not have gotten paid for the diamond drive repair

ECU reflash
CCU harness
oil pump rod retainer clip

Well Eric, whats the word,is the reflash working good on an 07......is it a factory recall or a voluntary thing?

update on the reflash? i will be inquiring my dealer tomorrow for my 08.
It happens to be there now for repairs anyway. If the sled runs and is updated i'll post my opinion after a shakedown this weekend.

Understand the Recall rules, NO do recalls , NO have warranty. Not fully in agreement with the fine details but accepted.

Whats the rules for Updates which I assume are done at customers costs.Does it affect ones warranty.?

I can realize there is a few issues in the first year of a new sled. But this is year 3 for the M8/1000. WE are still working out how the exhaust system works. Either field testing is a complete waste or the engineers dont listen to the testers.
Here is another example. Back in 07 when the heat issue was melting everything under the hood. My dealer said there was no such issue, they even said there was no issue at A/C head qaurters. Fawk... No issues why all the extra tin under the hood in 08.
Some body isn't listening.

Warranty is always an issue with anything. As soon as we add any after market part dealers put us in a "your on your own" list. We choose to gain extra hp so we pay the price for that. Also, my 07 m1000 had the update last year when I still had the purelogic box. This year it has the boondocker box & is a completely different sled.

Updated mine yesterday. Alot of shields and heat tape. Wait till you see the coolant bottle shield. I hope I never need to open it or I'll be bleedin!

No, I have not been riding all week. I have been stuck to the PHONE!!!

It is for the M1000 sleds only. Not the M8.

Thanks!!

Thanks for the info Racinstation. My dealer has NO CLUE so I guess that I will have to print off this whole thread to show him to get him to call AC so he can get his STUFF temporarily together!:beer;:beer;

Got my recall letter today from CAT

Letter says It has been determined under certain conditions (side-hilling or in deep snow) at higher altitudes your model does not meet cat performance standards. In some instances piston seizure has occured. Along with emission impacts. Failure to install all components of the kit will result in reduced performance and damage will result to the vehicle. To insure full protection under the emission warranty on your engine by federal law and your right to participate in future recalls we recommend you have your engine serviced as soon as possible. We may consider your not servicing it to be improper maintenance. If you do not have the update kit installed and the ECU reprogrammed, Arctic Cat may consider this to be improper maintenance.

Got my letter yesterday.... Too late though- My DD took a crap on Thurs, and I had to leave it on the hill. (long story) Went back on Fri and it was GONE! Luckily I have insurance, but still, what the hell is wrong with people these days? I remember when most everyone in the snowmobiling community was cool...

I hope the cops catch those ba$tards and put 'em in jail!
