Been answering calls today on the service bulletin release 2/12/09 by Arctic Cat. This service bulletin (actually 2 bulletins...one for 2007 .... one for 2008) is a high altitude update that will include the exhaust deflector, rubber boot etc to update it like the 2009 model. The ECU reflash is BASED on the 2009 ECU. It is different for both models due to ECU differences, Exhaust differences, as well as the AC/DC difference....but should have the same driveability as the 2009.

I will post info on the reflash as will be testing this weekend. PM me if you have questions. Call your local dealer to schedule this update and give them some time to get the parts in as well as realize that the parts will most likely be on backorder after this week due to demand.
;)

I have a 2007 M10 with a D&D 1200 kit. I don't think my ECU has ever been reflashed. Is this something I should have done? I have a BD box but I still can't clean up the low end.

I already added the boot after I saw it on a 09 xfire at the dealer but it didn't even come close to sealing with my 07 can. Helps with the slp can. My 09 M8 doesn't have one??

That will be great, because the last reflash for 07's (from jan 08) makes the 07 a complete POS at 9000ft. It made a really nice running sled a boggy, poor idling pain in the A$$.

Paul, if your runs, I wouldn't change it. I wish I never updated mine. My sled ran perfect prior to the last reflash. With you 1200 you will be adjusting no matter what, so why start over with a whole new map?

x2....

I am new to the Fuel injected sleds and fuel boxes and I just have a couple questions about the new 09 mapping.
Does this new mapping make a fuel box less needed when I put a pipe and air box mods on my 07 m1000? Or is it still a good idea to buy one?

dont run a pipe or air intake on your 07 1000 without a fuel control box.
skweeeeeeeeeeeeeeek and forkout 800 bucks.jmo.but lets hear racinstations
opinion:)

X3, I wish I could get mine refleshed back to original 07 M1000, it ran great and was easy to tune. Was there that many problems with the original flash that they had to make a change?

Ajay.

I know the 2007 update was a flop. The new programming is much better. Doing full testing next week and will report.

As for the above question on mods. I would run a 2007 with a can, reeds, and maybe a head mod without a fuel controller. I would NOT run it with an altered intake, a y pipe, or a single pipe without a controller.

X4 ! My '07 ran great before my reflashes also! Talk about destroying a great running sled.... Can't wait to hear the results of your testing!

I never let the dealer touch my original flash on my 2007 M1000. I was skeptical from the start as this has happened before when a manufacture comes out with a new sled that smokes, next thing you know there is a update, NEVER runs the same. Glad my 2007 runs stout with the original flash.:D One wishes they could get the original flash back but it never happens due to the EPA/sled running on the edge.

07 was running hot on the pipe..absolutely perfect through the whole power band. Then was told if I didn't do the update, 4 years of payed warranty would be NFG. Dealer recomended it be done.
Well sled runs like a Briggs on varnish.
Dealer took it to the Mtns. and couldn't believe they recomended the distruction of this sled.
Dealer had promised me if I didn't like it they would reverse the update....I got suckered into that line of bullchit.
Located a M1000 at insurance dispursal yard. 250 bucks for whole sled. Got a unflashed box and a spare engine.
Happy again.

Same deal with me. What a load of crap- I love your idea of a wrecked sled!

Is this update / NEW reflash, being done at dealers or is it a Minn. swap.?
Cost to customer?

It is done with new programming tools and internet connection at the dealership. I don't believe we will be sending them out anymore. part of what people are referring to is the Cat Care Extended warranty program. They will not honor warranty repairs on sleds without updates being completed. The computer reflashes are done with the new equipment which includes verifying the unit via the internet connection doing the update and electronically transmitting the claim data to Cat's mainframe. Example your diamond drive goes out and you have Cat Care. They will not pay for the DD repair if your sled qualifies for the ECU reflash and it has not been done.

Come to think of it..:(...The 4 year extended warranty We bought for this sled would never have been used, if hadn't been for the things the Dealer had ****ed up. Things have improved greatly since we chamged Dealers. Betcha A/C warranty misses us and wonders where We went.

This whole deal really STINKS imho.... Either they stand behind their product or they don't! WTF does the DD have to do with the ECU? I could see them NOT warrantying a stuck piston or crank/rod if you didn't do the reflash, but come on! And then, I have yet to find a CAT dealer in CA who has the equipment to do a reflash- I had to PAY to send mine to MN for the reflash. WHAT A JOKE!

Ummmm let's see.... 5 RMK's and only 1 broken crank? AND, they ALL ran flawlessly! Seriously considering going back to Poo.

Sorry for the rant, but WAY too many "issues" for a $12K sled IMHO

-Jeff

That is crap.

Only a retarded dealer would do that. My dealer has done warrenty on chassis components when my sled was in with twin pipes, intake, etc. Blaiming cat for a dealer that sux is stupid. I am pretty sure there are laws about denying warrenty claims on unrelated parts on the basis of modifications.

Now, if you seize your DD on your turbo M8, I think you are foolish to expect Cat to pay for it!

I have an 07 m 1000 had the 08 reflash made it run rich added a slp y pipe, pipe and can. slp big air intake and 2 flowrights in air box I have a fuel control box just for looks its shut off. still ran a little rich added fuel regulator stock press. was 46 psi. turned it down to 40 psi. cleaned up the bottem end and the plugs are a medium brown on long pulls at full throttel 7800 rpm. runs better than stock but the 25.8 horse power that slp claims out of thier pipe combo is bullchit. mabey 7-to 8 hp gain and I think that all comes from the y pipe and the air intake. put stock pipe back on with slp y pipe and can could not notice any diffrence between the 2 pipes. every sled is diffrent some dont need the controll box.
