I'm looking at a 04 800 151 with blown out motor for $1k. Can I drop an 06 motor in it relatively easily? Any recommendations for places to buy a new crate motor?
Yes you can drop in an 06 motor...same motor as your 04. Give Thin Air in Truckee a call, Jay may have something laying around or they may know who might have one. 530-582-8081
Wish deals like came my way, I really wanna put a 670 in one from all the guys i have read about and talked to they hold there own with the 800 and far cheaper to build.
06 summit had the Ptek HO and the 04 had the NON Ptek HO. Think you'll need the harness/computer/etc....to make it work correctly. Now 05 and older you're good.

Ptek will work in a non ptek, just won't be a ptek. A guy would have to use the 04/05 rave housings and maybe have to cap off the pulse line on the cases. Other than that, they're basically the same.
Now to convert to a powertek, a person would need to the following: ptek ecm, ptek carbs with tps sensor, full harness with knock sensor and ptek head to accept the knock sensor
Open with limited opperations....did you end up getting your 05 800 from him? Great friends, just feel horrible for them and the local economy tanking.
