Looking for some feedback on how these compare on the same day in the pow. ( 2013 pro 163 ) Is it worth the $$ for the gains?

Powerclaw 2.6

I haven't ridden a pro with the new Powerclaw on it but on my friend's 2013 LE proclimb the track flat out works it's a huge improvement over the 2.25 Powerclaw which in my opinion is an amazing track wish I could afford a new 153 2.6 on my 13 pro I cannot express how much I like this track for my riding style (tight trees, downhill slides, sidehilling, etc). I haven't had any experience with the peak but I've heard very good things. In all honesty I've never been a fan of the 5.1 Polaris track but that it's just my opinion but I think you can't go wrong with the 2.6 Powerclaw or the 2.5 Peak.

Tracks

I went the rounds recently, what track to put on my polaris pro with BT.
I have ran the162x15 CE-2.5 single ply on my pro the CE 3" the Ce 156x2.5, the powerclaw 2.25 in a 153 but 85durometer,the stiff XrS TRACK. ALSO THE POWDERMAX 162X2.3, I have also helped out a buddy with installing a Powder max Acent 2.5 by 163 on his ski do. so you get the idea. After all the time and expense to test these track it comes back ot the best track. There are 2 best tracks out of all of these.
Short and sweet answer, the polaris 2.4x163 is the best all round track on the market, no questions asked. It just flat grabs the snow on start and pedal the snow behind the sled where it takes little effort. it is like a magic floatiing carpet as it propells you forward through the snow. It gives you lift and proppells you in a forward motion. I tracks true/amazing down turn capapbilities. it holds and edge until the cows come home,
The CE 3inch is an animal and if you don't mind the push of the track into corners, alot of vibration in your bords, then this track is for you it willl high mark with ease

I agree with Ghost rider. The stock 2.4 polaris track works very well, no need to change it.

I think the Stock 2.4 Polaris Pro track works really well, as well.
I see no need to change it out.

Question about the 3", when you say "push in the corners" do you mean on the trail?? How about in a side hill, does it hold a sidehille easy or does it want to just hook up and take you up the hill??

I would agree, the stock polaris track is really really good, there is no need to change it at all...And yes I had the 3" on my other sled, changed back to the good ol 2.5 single ply...3" goes up hill GREAT, other than that..pppffffttttt i'll keep the 2.5's anyday.

What did the 3" do that you didn't like?

Well first off its a very heavy track, (like 12 pounds heaver) and absorbes a huge amount of HP, thus it does 2 things right off, 1 it kills the "snap" of the motor and 2 it whacks track speed...also it handels horrible on the trails, and we do not ride trails BUT 12 miles of trails to get to our local riding area. I also did not like the way it sidehills at all, it did not let me lay the sled over to take a "set" anywhere as easy at the smaller lighter more flexible track. Direction changes from sidehill to uphill and downhill were harder to make rapidly. Also climbing through the trees was more difficult with the bigger track due to the direction changes.
How ever now the good, yes it was much better highmarking and pullin steep hills in the powder, it did also help a lot with getting the sled not stuck, but for myself these 2 areas are not that much of a issue due to where we ride, its mostly all technical areas and we dont hit any big chutes here. But its all just my opinion , I would say ride both if you can cause some guys love the 3 inch deal.....I would like to try the 3" short track and see how it acts tho...

one more note the cost, figure if you did it like i did with the avid chaincase ,drivers, and track your lookin at 2000.00 by the time your done and for that kind of coin it it 2000.00 better?? nope imho:yo:

oh, btw when I had my apex the 3" worked GREAT....it was a godsent, where I did not like it was on my polaris lightweight sleds....I should clarify this as on the apex it was probably the best mod I could have done.

I've been hearing great things about the 2.6" PC... does better in high moisture and set up snow than the 5.1. The PC is also a lightweight track.

The 5.1 is a great track in lots of conditions.... but in west coast snow, for me, the Challenger 9174/75 ouperformed the 5.1 in all conditions and did not give up anything on the trips to Utah Pow.

Riding technique, suspension setup, etc have a lot to do with what makes the sled work.

I hope to try out the "Soft" peak here next month on my own sled... I'll get a loaner from a dealer hopefully on my next road trip.

can you run that challenger 9174/9175 with 3" pitch 8 tooth drivers or do you have to go with 7 tooth for clearance on stock sled.

Ok since I do 99% of my riding in Oregon and northern California the 2.6 PC would make a noticeable difference over the polaris track on my 2013 pro? Any negatives with going to smaller drivers for the PC?

I think you could spend a lot of money and not improve on the stock track. It is a good all around track and a GREAT pow track. The best? No...it's nothing special on hard pack. An extreme seems as good in pow and better on hard stuff. Worth the money and effort? I would say if your favourite sledding is climbing in the spring...it's worth looking at other options. If you have a big hp pro...it's worth looking at other options with less flex. If your sled is stock, just a pipe, etc, and your favorite riding is this time of the year....just leave it alone and be happy. New cat track seems to work well...but still don't feel like you're missing out with the 5.1.

I swapped out this year from the stock Polaris track to the 2.5 Camo Extreme and I'm sure glad I did. This has been the absolute best mod I have ever done to a sled. I can easily hold a side hill through some of the roughest tracked up terrain with ease. Manueverability is awesome and it far out climbs the stock track.
