174 vs 162 on Nytro Mtx?

I have just sold my apex w/162 & am going to build a Nytro but dont know what track length to go with (162 or 174). Just wondering if anybody has run both and can tell me the pros and cons. (sled will be turbo'd of course!) Thanks

I just haven't wrapped my head around that 174 yet. I'm sure in some conditions it would be just awesome but the track alone weighs 75 lbs. On the other hand I also said once upon a time that a 136 is all a guy would ever need so what do I know.LOL

I would say if you are running big boost 18 plus psi, I would run a 174, I only run 14 psi, and when I get my m10 I plan on running a 162.

I just realized, if you put a 174 on, there is no way I am following you down some of those "hills" when we go looking for fresh

According to the Camoplast website the 162X16X2.5 Extreme weighs 58.5lbs, the 174 version is only 4.5 lbs heavier at 63lbs. I still think the 162 may be the better choice for all-around riding. I ran my 162X16 Maverick at 16-17lbs. If you were just gonna climb chutes, then I would consider the 174, but then I haven't tried a 174. Someone on here must have tried both at similar boost levels? Flotation was never an issue with the 162.

I think if you own a heavy yamaha like I do, you need all the extra stopping power you can get. I know the apex is dangerous coming down some of the stuff it can climb with a 162, and I know the nitro is even more stupid fast coming down. So with that in mind, if you climb, you may want the 174. And you know in the next 5 years there will be a monster new 183 and the 174 will be a 162 to us now, just like 1998 when the 156 was enormous!!.
