163 Really Worth it???

After 4 years on a 155 (and swearing that 163's were too long), I went 163 this year. Glad I did, all my fears about handling were ill-founded. Still not sure about the durability of the long rails, but haven't bent them yet......? I'll get another 163 again next year, no question.

X2. I was always a bit afraid of a 163 but after getting one I wouldn't have went any other way. I will always be on a 163 now.

anyone heard if people were having problems with the rails bending easily?

It will be interesting to see for next year what the professional riders like Dan Adams and Chris Burandt will be riding... A 163 or 155 (or shorter).

I'll be testing them out in Alpine this month as I hop from Sled to sled on stock 155 and 163 Pro RMK's.

eric....as you will find out when you hang with dan coming up in a few weeks he will tell you hes a 163 guy.

i just got back from alpine last week and had the deepest snow of my life and the 163 flat out no question about it climbs substantially better than the 155. with the deep 3-5ft of fresh pow we were in there was no noticable difference in the flickiablity as far as im concerned. maybe in harder set up snow you might be able to tell the diff but in the conditions i was in i couldnt tell.

after talkin with dan and tryin both im a newly converted 163 guy. if i were to get a 2012 pro no question it would be a 163!

So we've solved the case....

FOUR,,,,, that is 4 inches in difference.... ON THE GROUND!!!

So,,,,, can you really tell???????

I like em both...

I can tell...every time I ride with guys on 155s we spend way more time getting folks outta holes. 163s are very well balanced - 155s are fun until it gets really deep - 174s are too much IMHO although I've seen the 174 X 3 go up some amazing stuff in tight trees really slow without getting stuck.

I myself am a 155 guy. This is a question I have been thinking about alot too. If I remember right, Rassmussen switched to a 153 after years of 163's. I guess I based my current thought on that. If Bret does it, then I will stay short. I have only spent a very limited amount of time on just a 163 Pro, but it "felt" as short/ nimble as my 09 155. Hopefully I will be able to get myself a Pro next season. Crap, now I am tossing the track thing around again!!!!! (not sure if I spelled Bret's name right, sorry if not)

I have the answer for ya.... Buy 2 sleds! LOL 151~156 and a 162+. You will have the best of both worlds. LOL

Thats my plan. I have a 700MM and I want to do a Fabcraft tunnel with a track length of 151~156 under it. Then on DEEP POWDER days. Whip out the Edge RMK 1000CC Triple with a 162" under it. So, no matter the day, weather and snow. It wont be a problem! Not for everyone LOL. JMHO

i myself will go with a 155. I do ride around the flat lands of Saskatchewan so the 163 is a little long for me.
