154 vs 163 track speed?

just curious since i am looking at buying an xp next year if anyone has had a chance to ride both and if there is a significant difference in speed or anything else between the two lengths

I think that all depends on your clutching, gearing, etc. Both set up the same, the 154" will carry a little more track speed. It's really not noticible, unless your being clocked or something. I have the 163", and wouldn't go shorter for anything. JMO!

Had a first hand experience this year against a twin Sled Head Racing 860R, one a 154 and the other a 163, with the same really good driver the 163 could out climb the 154, the 163 had a lot more staying power, I am with Chubbydog on this one.

I ordered a 154" myself just for they way it would jump. I have a 159" right now. Wish that came on an XP. I think that is the perfect size. a little nervous about going shorter next year. hopefully it will be ok.

All else being equal the 163 will be higher on the hill, actual track speed change due to track length difference is probably not even measurable.

While climbing the 163 will float better than the 154 due to it's larger footprint allowing for better floatation while climbing in deep powder vs the 154 with it's 4.5" smaller footprint.....In a straight 1/4 mile drag race once both tracks begin to spin and ballon the 163 is approx 5 sled length slower than the faster 154.

OT

out climbed the 50+ 154s i raced up a hill.......bigger track means bigger mark....nothing new here...move alone

You aint raced me tho have ya, there are 2 different situations, racing and highmarks, and the bigger track does not ALWAYS get the bigger mark............. ;)
