1200 Ski-Doo MCX Turbo

I think people should sit on the sidelines for a while.

The 1200 Ski-doo is not like the yamaha sled where you could slap on a turbo and go. BRP doesn't have a mountain clutch and that's the first problem. You just can't run a motor that will burn a belt up in a second, hooked up to a clutch that needs tuning every 10 minites, in the mountains.

The problems for the flatlands might be solved by a thicker clutch, but the real test and market for your everyday turbo ride is in the mountains.

The BRP chain case oil is always black, but the oil in the Yamaha chaincase stays clear. Will the BRP chain case hold up, or does it wear too fast?

Let the flatlanders play with the 1200 Ski-doo Turbo for a while first. Remember 10,000 km on trails and lakes is only equal to about 200 km of the wear and tear a sled will see in the mountains.
Blowing a clutch like BJ did is like not even making it out of the parking lot around here.

I have read this post 3 times now, I don't know where to start with the replies so I won't... it sounds more retarded every time...

I see the light

:face-icon-small-winHad to take advantage of the snow last nite in woodenville wa so jumped on the 1200 doo and took wife for dinner. The 1200 rips stock and has a ton of torque but the funny thing is how quite this sled is we could talk to each other without yelling this sled sounds and has a feather lite thottle like a Sea-Doo. this sled handles and feels like riding an 06 rev with the footwell and control of the xp cuz the frame is the same.

Beware once you get on this sled you might not want off and it not even tuboed yet

Big Johns stock does 115

sheriff, i can ride i have been told the 26 to 29th, hope we can meet up, hope the temps smarten up, been a sad year

i think we have the right guys on the job making the turbo four stroke a winner, be a primary or two, dj and darel and others will find the solutions,,, just give them some ride time

I heard Bakers XP turbo blew a clutch just riding around the front yard. Does BRP make a heavy duty TRA ?

I thought Baker had the big clutch on there that is what he was telling me he was going to doo. So did he ride his new XP 800/860/960 163 x 2.5 1/2 M-10 Binferd 5000 instead poor baby!

Talked to Daryl this morning in Revy, he is going to put on a splined clutch from an older Rev. The clutch halves are twisting as much as 180 degrees & the bolt broke. I am going out with him on Jan 8-11. more wrinkles will be worked out then. Not to worry, there are lots of options & if this is the biggest obstacle then we are laughing... More R&D

Did you get your 174 for your XP 800/860/960 163 x 2.5 1/2 M-10 Binferd 5000 have you talked to Robbie he ignoring me and making me homesick! Has he changed his tune?

I will send Robbie a note tomorrow...I will ask him why he is ignoring you;)lol

AND!! give us more then that before we slap you silly with a rubber boot!!;)

HeeHee! Clutch problem? What clutch?

Any good machine shop can spin a Yamaha clutch post to fit the Rotax crank. Why are you guys wasting good money and riding time trying to fix the TRA? BRP is ripping you off, so pick out another clutch to run and lets see what that Tee-Doo can really doo! I rode the stock 1200 today.

It's not like you don't know that the TRA is a number one problem headache for BRP.

A Yamaha clutch is an option as well, we are all very aware of that. I believe that we can get the TRA to work. I have run Polaris clutching on Doo's forever & was never a fan of the TRA, until a couple of years ago I tried one & had amazing success with it. I know there are some issues out there, but all brands have issues. If anyone can figure the TRA out it is Baker, he is an absolute genius with clutching...In my opinion, one of the reasons the Yamaha clutch works so well in the high horsepower sleds is the "Ridgedness" of the engine mounts. You never see any twist when the motor is loaded, therefore the belt is always in perfect alignment. I had a front mount Alpine Apex & I was absolutely shocked at the lack of belt wear...

What did you think of the 1200 in stock form?

BTW no real reason to be so harsh:mad: on the forum, it's christmas:beer; we are just trying to figure **** out on a new ride...

The 1200 reminded me of the RX1, but much lighter. Needs a turbo to make it go.

Happy New Year. Sorry if I sounded put out with you, I'm not. It is just that EVERY time BRP comes out with a new ride - it has clutching issues. HELLO! ANYONE HOME?

45K Canadian is 36K American at today's rates! You can build a pretty sweet sled on your own for that kind of coin.

No bash here, but there is a tremendous amount of time invested in this sled, as well as a fair amount of coin. At 36K I think it is a darn good deal.
