10k to spend on 1100t and m8 - make your case

As the title implies. If you had 10k to spend on aftermarket parts on those 2 sleds which way would you go? To bring the weights and power closer to each other which one would you start with? 2s guys hate the weight of the 4s and 4s guys will not settle for 125hp at elevation after feeling 215-300+ hp.

This might be slightly skewed posted in the 1100 section but I troll in the PC M section too so let's see what happens.

All depends on the riders.

I ran with 3 m8 turbos and 1 m11 cranked up on a shorter stock sled and rocked the chit out of them, only place they had anything on me was pointed straight up. So I'm a firm believer in lighter is better which means make the m8 lighter and boost it, put a kmod, raptors under it and if anything is left throw at the m11 for kicks. But really the M11 would not serve me the way I ride, I thrash them in the trees. I can still ride the m11 in the trees but the response isn't there where I need so I would take a m8 over a 300hp m11 for my style. I love power though.

Well. . . Here is mine.

11t

Carbon fiber hood-16lbs $1250
Belt Drive-11lbs $1500
Big Chute turbo w/exhaust and other goodies +100hp $3500
Relocate battery and alien motion lithium battery -13lbs $200
Turbie/evo TCL delete kit $1200
Lightweight Seat - 5 lbs $400
Titanium a-arms -6lbs $800
Strip all foam from plastic Free -2lbs

I am at just below $9000 and I would be 53lbs lighter than stock and 100hp more than stock. 33lbs coming forward of my feet. I could have spent the money on a c3 tank as well which would be another 10lbs but not in a area that matters on the 11t. The weight needs to come off the front.

I think $10K is way too much of xtras to put on a sled

who wants to buy a $12k-$14k sled then have to spend another $10k to make it the way it should of been from the factory. I personally ride a TM8 at 10 psi on avgas, with Kmod & a 3". but i'm sick and tired of having over $20K in a sled. Arctic cat needs to step up and build a 900-950cc motor with 190HP out of the box. for the same price point of their 8000SP.

I find this entertaining to say the least. The aftermarket drives the industry, and vice/versa.. If it wasn't for guys putting $20K into sleds, we would still be riding 121" 340/440's. The OEM's do build what the largest % of people want... just not what a few crazy HP junkies want.
As far as the $$$ spent... no matter what the OEM's build, I /we will always spend crazy stupid money to improve it or make our own, That's what has made sleds what they are today. As Americans, we are never satisfied no matter what we have.
Additionally, if they did produce the super light / mega Hp sled we ask for, the price tag would still be the same..... $20K++++ and how many would actually buy one???
Besides... the aftermarket builds better products for the most part. Building on a smaller scale allows for better quality control!

IMO

190hp out of the box is still only 135ish HP at 9000ft. If you have became accustomed to your current sleds power. Your proposed 2015 M8000sp would have a power deficit of at least 70hp. Still to much gap in power. IMO

I'd start with a 2014 XF7000, turbo kit, long track, narrow front end and a few light weight goodies. Oh, yea, I'm already dong that. It'll be a good year.

It still comes down to trees and meadows. What and how you ride will dictate what platform you start with. I personally would start with the 4s but it's what I'm used to. I'd be lying if i said I can't wait to put seat time on the Evo TM8 thou.....

So this Evo tm8 you keep talking about......anymore info on this thing other than some pics with the hood on it and basic details. We want details and price.

This spring I purchased a 2013 m1100 turbo HCR 162 with 520 miles on it for $8200 in excellent condition. I have purchased mostly used parts so far including bmp powderlite muffler ($150), mds weights ($100), team secondary set up with 58-62 helix and black/white spring ($300), evops brv (70), evops intake ($150), evops boost hoses ($60), evops elbow ($10), new roll over valve ($190) and 3 new dayco belts 1/2in longer than 082 ($150 at haydays). Then put my slp powder pro skis from my m8 onto it. All I have left to do this year is vent the crap out of it.

By the time the sled hits the snow I'll have less than $9500 invested. Then next winter I'll be getting the evops 215 hp tune along with some weight loss goodies.... Prolly spend another couple grand.

P.S. I'm a 170 lb tree rider. Lets hope this beast doesn't pull me into a tree :)

On the 4s, I think if you put narrower airframe boards on, suck in the plastic, ice age rails and then shorten the front shocks a little, then poo Pro skis it would act like a completely different sled and handle like a m8 or better, might need some shock work too. I know 90% of my riding is technique over rider weight, very rarely do ppl use there full body weight, or I should say need to use there body weight to work the sled. I'm not going to buy a 4s to find out but I would love to set one up and see. Then it might be an option. But I do use my full weight and height to my advantage so I'm curious how it would work out.

I boondock so I would spend it all on the 800:

If you bought it new, add $5200 to the sticker price and have a Pro-lite
Powder Pro skis - $450 (I know you can find them cheaper)
K-mod skid - $2500 (sell lightweight factory skid to recoup some cost)
Fox Float 3 Evol RC2's for the front - $1700
Spare belt - $150

I don't know if I could have blown 10 grand that quick in Vegas! :wof:

My bad

I worded the title wrong but most of you got the idea. It was spend 10k on one or the other, not share. I personally would be 50 lbs lighter, kmod, and 280hp.

As for the Evo kit....patience young grasshoppers:face-icon-small-coo Nobody wants to announce a product too early and field all the questions, and conversely too late missing the potential buyers thinking about it as one of the choices. Showing it at haydays was to start the ball rolling and the end game was to have it ready for production for the Edmonton sled show.

Evo kit? announce product? huh?

A question about the new evo turbo kit for the 2 stroke proclimbs was posted. He was replying in regards to that.

So all this 4 stroke talk kinda makes me want to keep the 1100t I have instead of going back to a 2S. I really really really don't want to have to spend much, if at all, any more money on it. It has a completely stock drive train. Except for the clutching adjustments made for the BC275. If I have to spend any more money. Where should I spend it?

Well I do not beleive that Hillclimbpro had a belt blower. So you need to concentrate your money on saving the chain. This is the same as my personal sled. Not a belt blower but I did wreck a chain. In my opinion the rear mounts need to be addressed. The rear mounts and rubbers from Evolution are the way to go. This will hold the engine more solid.

Three things.
-Mounts from Evolution
-Stronger Chain
-Manual tensioner.

About $400 worth of parts.

Those three things should fix any issues that you could have in your drivetrain. You could delete the reverse as well. That i think saves like 8lbs and the worries of it causing issues. But some like reverse.

Do what needs to be done and ride the sled and enjoy it I say. If you wanted to save money on fuel you could get the 250 tune as well rather than the 275 and you can run 93 octane.

You will never get the 1100 to handle like an 8... no matter how much you spend the front will always be heavy. For 10k though you can have an M8 that has 250+ hp, and weighs WAY less. Only real question is reliability imo, but every buddy I have with a boosted nytro has more issues than I've had on my M8 turbos with similar horsepower, so not sure how much a factor that is really. Imo, the chassis will fall apart before the motor on the M8 (that's the case for everyone I know)

I Agree on the m8s durability. But untill just now the 1100 was a mysterious beast! It's heavy and has some problems. And untill now, no one really knew what or how to accomplish better durability and weight loss. It's still a pretty new model. But with what's available now I think you can make a pretty good sled without spending a bunch more money than you would boasting a new proclimb 2S.
