Ive had this about 10 days and every time I ride it it seems like the steering is darting around worse , today it was a fight all day just to keep it on a trail. I have a mt cat 800 that doesnt do this at all, is this a problem with the telescopic post or skis , is there a damper made for this. thanks -m-

I would check the alignment if thats good then its just a matter of getting used to riding it m's are not the greatest trail sled just nail the throttle countersteer and lean, i think it will just take you a while to get used to it.

You want about 1/4" of toe out on the skis. If you ride the trails alot, the dual runner wear rods will make a hugh difference.

I dont think the adjustable steering post has too much to do with it. How much air presure are running in the front shocks? Im running 50 in mine and it seems to work fine on the trail. Well as good as any M-Cat I've ever been around!

Its the 05 sno pro spring mod. Cat item # 0702-747. Lots of info on here if you search. The net effect is the ski can move side to side as your suspension moves up and down to eliminate any binding. I've found the sled is really easy to handle on the trail now and ruts etc are not a problem, which with an M sled I was NOT expecting as I did not buy it for trail riding. It pushes the ski to the outside position (41") for better stability and then when you pull the sled up on edge, the ski slides to the inside position (39") for easier sidehilling. Best of both worlds! Seems to work well. A doo guru rode my sled and is now looking to put this mod on his XP.

it shouldnt really matter if the front is the same width as the back, but if not sure always use the center, no mistakes

Im really curious in wondering. WHY WOULD ANYONE BUY A MOUNTIAN SLED AND BE WHINING ABOUT ITS TRAIL HANDLING???!!!!!
For the love of Pete. Its a MOUNTIAN sled. Get used to it!

Very few people are lucky enough to head straight up the mountain without take a trail to get there. I've seen some very darty sleds that have to be scary to ride. Most of them had toe-in and too much ski pressure. Toe out should be set at a point 10" ahead and behind the spindle. Usually measure from the center of the ski using the skag bolts as a straight line. Most skis do have a straight reinforcing web to measure off if the skag bolts are too hard to hold on. Most skis also have play in then so put a light bungie to pull the tips towards each other. All single runner skis will give you some walk, but some are just plain spooky!
